Mr. Powell Is Hunting for His Wife novel Chapter 3

Seeing the comer, the expression of the front desk staff instantly changed from arrogant to nervous. “Mr. Powell…she, this lady says she wants to be your assistant, I was going to let the security guard chase her out!” the front desk lady stuttered, she was afraid that Brooklyn would fire her the moment he was provoked.

Although Diana was prepared for that, she still could not help but shudder when she heard that voice. The memory six years ago seemed to imprint deeply in her mind and she could not get rid of it. After calming herself down, Diana spoke blandly, “Mr. Powell, nice to meet you. I’m here to apply for the job as your assistant.”

Her voice sounded familiar. A confused look flashed across Brooklyn’s face. He sneered when he saw her wearing sunglasses that had concealed half of her face. “You’re applying for assistant, but you’re wearing sunglasses, do you have any sense of being humble?” As he spoke, he took two steps forward. The vague fragrance on Diana made him raised his eyebrows.

Diana smiled and slowly took off her sunglasses. When her dazzling looks were exposed in the air, Brooklyn’s aloof look became gentle. The lady before him had limpid eyes and an innocent look. Her slightly slanted eyes added sexiness to her innocent face and she seemed to be able to bewitch others just by blinking her eyes and speak.

It was the first time Brooklyn saw a woman combining innocence and sexiness that perfectly. He was amazed at first sight, and was shocked, followed by feeling moved. Diana smiled and said, “Are you done looking, Mr. Powell?” She was also secretly examining him when he examined her.

That man was the man who tortured her to the edge of death six years ago. The lines on his face and his deep eyes were more dazzling than A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He did look fine. Diana could not like him at all, she even had a little resentment towards him.

She saved him, but what he brought to her was endless agony. If Brooklyn had not announced that he wanted to search for her on newspapers six years ago, Mirabelle would not have any thought on her. She would not nearly die and nearly been killed by her own sister. A weird look flashed across Diana’s face.

Brooklyn retrieved his look and sneered to conceal the fact that he lost his cool. “How confident of you.” Diana smiled. “No one could avoid being confident if they have my looks. But not everyone could have my dazzling looks though.” Diana actually did not sound pretentious with such overly-confident tone.

Even Brooklyn could not pick up anything wrong from her. With regard to looks, Mirabelle could not compete with the lady before him. With regard to temperament, those mistresses from famous family could not match her too! “Interesting.” Brooklyn stared at Diana’s proud and confident face with a false smile. He could not help but feel intrigued.
