Bailey's pov
The sudden whirl of words out of my lips made Kaleb pause. He peers down at me silently, shock swirling in his gaze.
Until perhaps my words had finally registered.
The confused line between his brows pull apart and a light of happiness glowed in his irises, making me catch my breath. And then a growing beam spread on his face and I knew that he had captured my heart forever then.
A gasp push out of my lips as I am suddenly in his arms, warmed by his affection as he lifts me higher with a happy cheer tumbling out of his mouth. He hugged me, shouting 'yes!' as he looked up at me with a soft gaze.
I can't help but giggle through the tears, cupping his face as a wide grin spread across his lips. His eyes sparkled with happiness and disbelief. " Please tell me this isn't a dream." He whispered, hugging me tighter as though I would disappear in any moment.
My heart thrust against my chest and I run my thumb over his cheek, smiling down at him before leaning down and kissing him on his lips. He responded instantly, softly taking my lips and sucking my bottom lip gently.
The kiss is warm and something about this one feels a bit different. I wasn't sure but it felt like a promise. And as Kaleb kissed me more tenderly that mirrored the gentle crashing of the waves in the distance, I knew what that promise meant.
It was the beginning of us. Together.
A promise that we would make things work.
A promise of us.
I sighed in the kiss, slowly pulling away to whisper on his lips. " I'm sorry it took so long for me to say yes." I opened my eyes and our eyes connected. Blue meets blue.
A jolt shot straight through my heart and in an instant I knew that he was mine and I was his.
He cupped my cheek tenderly, his eyes revealing his emotions so well. The loving gaze had me practically melting in his arms. He rest his forehead on mine, letting a soft brush of air pass through his lips.
He traced a pattern on my cheek as his eyes peered into mine as if trying to capture this moment in his memory forever. " I'm sorry it took so long to see that you were always the one I want," his words came out faint.
The world seem to just suddenly pause, as if it too wanted us to savor the moment between us. I smiled, my eyes flickering to his lips. " Well at least now you know." I teased, laughing lightly as I return my gaze to his.
He grinned, his eyes twinkling. " You know what that means right?"
I bit my lip, tilting my head and breathed out. " What?"
With a lazy smirk on his lips, he brushed our lips will whispering. " You're now stuck with me."
I couldn't help but laugh uncontrollably as he carried me over to the tent, spinning around in a circle and then gently placed me down on my feet. He chuckled as I try to right my footing and I playfully glared into his twinkling eyes.
His beam was infectious and I couldn't help but return his smile.
" Now that you were swept off your feet, how did it feel?" He teased, pinching my chin and laughing when I swatted his hand away from my face.
I rolled my eyes and pretended to think. " Hmm let me think, woozy and a bit nauseating."
The smile on his face slowly start to disappear and a worry frown crinkled between his brows. He pulled me into his arms and cupped my face, looking down at me with concern. " Do you feel woozy and nauseated now?"
Seeing that he was in fact worried, I decided to ease his concern. I giggled. " I was joking Kaleb. It felt," I grinned, leaning more into his touch. " Amazing to be swept off my feet literally."
His shoulders dropped in relief and the beam on his face appear once more.
I laughed and took a step back by placing my palm on his chest and playfully pushing him away. " But you still have a long way to impress me playboy." I looked at him under my lashes and he grinned.
" I don't mind trying to impress you for the rest of my life Bailey."
