In the line at McDonald's I realize I don't have any money on me at all. Nada, not a cent or any loose change at all in my hole filled jeans pockets. I really need to get a job. I can just imagine someone reading my life story: 'Naive, young- not to mention broke- 17 year Emerald sits in the car with her longtime crush who coincidentally turns out to be a werewolf. "Shit. I don't have any money on me at all." I voice my recent thoughts to Liam. He looks confused for a while then he shrugs. "I'll pay for it." He says matter of factly. We're two cars away from the drive thru window and I'm starting to get a little anxious; if I don't eat atleast one box of nuggets for the entire week then I might just lose my mind. Nuggets is like a essential in my life, like water or air. "I can't let you pay for my food. You've done too much already." I tell Liam as another car drives off. "I can and I will." He says again, his voice firm but soft at the same time which makes me want to melt right now on the passenger seat of his car. If he wants to pay for my food, then let it be. "Fine." I agree. "But I owe you." I add and Liam laughs. It is finally our time as the last car finally drives off and Liam pays for my food as promised. "Thank you." I tell him as he hands me my food. The worker at the window is totally foaming at the mouth as she looks suductively at Liam, biting her huge lips that looks like the product of some very bad plastic surgery. To my relief, Liam pays her no mind at all, he looks at me like I'm the only person in this world. Which, makes me feel special. I snap out of my dreamy thoughts. I wouldn't even stand a chance with him, there are so many other beautiful girls out there that would be good for him, and I'm just a fly in his eyes. We finally drive away and I try extremely hard not to give my food more attention than Liam. Whuifh is alot harder than you would actually think. "So," I take a sip of my much needed drink, "I am dying to ask you a question." I finally say and Liam's eyes wander over to me before they focus back on something more important, the road. "Really?" He asks and my heart flips when his lips twitch. He is one of the most handsome persons I've ever seen and I can't stop from gaping at him. I know, I know: I sound like a lovesick puppy or one of those clingy girlfriend's who succeed only in being as cringy as humanly possible. If someone told me that I would get kidnapped and held hostage and my crush would save me like a damsel in distress, only in wolf form anyways, I would have laughed in their faces and sent them to the best mental facility I could find. But now given my sudden situation I would say I'm the one being laughed at, by the entire universe. It's funny how things work out. "How did it happen?" I ask hoping I don't offend him or anything. Liam sneaks a glance at me when he thinks I'm not looking. "Parson? " He seems confused and I mentally face-palm myself very, very hard. "I mean, how did you turn into, you know.. a werewolf." I finally say and Liam's face morphs into realization. "Oh, that. Well, I was born with it." He shrugs. "Regardless of the stories you have probably seen on the internet, no one can curse you so you turn into a 'flesh eating monster' at night. And I don't see it as a curse instead I see it as a beneficial way to protect those I love." He continues and his words burn right through my chest." I think it's extremely cool. "I admit. I genuinely didn't see him any different than the Liam I liked just a few days ago. The fact that he saved me when he could have ripped my throat out means something. Before Liam can respond, a huge rock collides with the wind shield. I scream from fear as our car rushes towards a huge oak tree looming ahead of us.
