My Ex-Wife and Kids Came In Like A Wrecking Ball novel Chapter 39

Chapter 39  Their Relationship Is Unusual

Rosalie left the room. Lowering her voice carefully, she said to the two little ones on the other end, “Be good. Mommy is still treating a patient and will go back a little later. You can play with your godmother first.”

The two were already used to their mommy coming home late because of work, so they agreed to what she said obediently.

Meanwhile, in the room.

The expression on Byron‘s face was so cold it was practically freezing over, but anger surged in his heart. Estie‘s empty hand and the yell of ‘Mommy‘ that came from the phone appeared in his mind repeatedly.

No wonder she had been so cold when she saw Estie.

It turned out that this woman was already married and even had children with another man! That was why she abandoned the child all those years! He looked down at his daughter who was still standing there. The little girl could not hide the look of loss on her face. When she saw the woman head out, she still looked up and stared at the door longingly, waiting for her to come back. This scene stung his heart even more. So what if she came back? That woman still would not want her child! Byron‘s eyes were frighteningly dark. He strode over to Estie‘s side, crouched down, and picked her up.

Estie looked at her father blankly, tugging at his collar to indicate that she did not want to be held by him.

Byron pretended not to have noticed. He said to Andrius in a cold voice, “It‘s getting late. I‘ll be bringing Estie back home first. If Old Man Quirke wakes up, tell him I‘ll see him another day.”

With that, he strode away with Estie in his arms before Andrius could even answer. Rosalie had just ended her call and was about to head back in. The moment she got to the door, she saw the man exit from inside expressionlessly. Rosalie’s heart constricted. She was thinking about how to respond, but the man strode past her as if he had not seen her.
