Chapter 43 There‘s something Off With The Mood
Having gained her word, Andrius replied with a smile, “Since this is your answer, I‘m relieved. I‘ll prepare the contract tomorrow. Then we‘ll just need to sign it.”
Rosalie nodded in agreement.
After discussing the compensation, Andrius personally escorted her to the door and watched her drive away. Watching her car drive off, Andrius then turned back into the house and called Byron. “How‘s Old Man Quirke?” Byron‘s voice rang out along with the sound of flowing water the moment the call connected. Andrius smiled and answered, “He‘s awake. Dr. Jacobs is indeed quite skilled.”
Saying that, he recalled the strangeness between Byron and Rosalie just now and asked curiously, “Byron, have you met Dr. Jacobs... before? I kept feeling that the atmosphere between you two to be somewhat off, and I haven‘t seen you treat other women like that.” She was heckled earlier, and he spoke up for her. At first, Andrius had actually thought that Rosalie was a fraud. Seeing Byron coming forward to help her and even requesting Andrea to apologize to Rosalie, he was confused.
He vaguely sensed that the two had met before, but he could not guess just what their relationship was.
Byron only answered the call because he was worried about Old Master Quirke’s body. When asked this question, his expression sunk slightly. “I don‘t know her. If I had known her from before, I would‘ve asked her to see Old Man Quirke.”
Before Andrius reacted to what the other had said, the call was already disconnected.
Andrius found things even more strange when Byron hung up the phone like that. Byron‘s tone was very stiff just now. Did they really not know each other?
