Madeleine
A chill ran down my spine at those words. My heartbeat had grown so loud and erratic that everything that he said next got drowned in the noise that echoed in my ears.
No, he couldn’t possibly mean that.
My eyes went wide with terror and despite wanting to run away, I decided to let him talk as much as I could.
Hayden had saved me once and I had been thinking of finding a way of returning the favor. If I could do it just by listening to Steve ramble about what he had exactly done or planned to do, it would really be helpful.
I knew that the werewolves loathed me so he couldn’t possibly mean that he would take me to his bed. I was beneath them all.
No wolf, not even the gamma would ever want to taint his reputation by accepting a wolfless girl, that I was pretty sure of.
Hence, I mustered my courage and walked outside the door that was well hidden by the darkness. There was only a faint light entering the cabin through a slit in the window and I stepped in it to show Steve that I was around.
Hearing my footsteps, he turned to face me. “There you are…” He took a big swig from the bottle and leered at me.
Looking around, he spotted the bed and plonked himself on it, crossing his feet and lying like some king.
“My body is sore, I need you to massage me a little.” He said in a voice that almost made me gag.
Dread began to fill my heart as I willed myself to walk up to him. The bottle he was holding was almost empty and I knew that he wouldn’t even be able to stand up on his feet if I were to run.
Plus, I needed to hear what he was talking about Hayden. Thus, I pushed my hair behind my ears and walked out of the door completely.
“That’s a good slave. Now, take off my shoes and start with the massage. I am feeling too tired.”
Hesitating a little, I walked near him and did as he asked. Keeping one eye on him, I untied the shoelaces and placed the shoes on the floor one after the other.
His feet were smelly but so was his entire being. I was horrified to think that I was touching his feet. Trying to distract myself from the growing disgust, I asked him in what I assumed to be a carefully neutral voice,
“Why are you tired? Did Hayden poke his nose in our matters again?”
These words seemed to please him. The way I shifted all the blame on Hayden made him feel happy and a smile appeared on his lips.
“Oh, smart girl. I thought you were also like the other girls of our pack, completely smitten by the charms of that show-off.”
I smelled jealousy in his words and he had every right to be. Hayden was a true alpha in all respects, at least from what I had heard so far.
It was a miracle I had never heard of him or his pack before. But then, I had never really left the safety and comfort of my territory earlier.
That was until Garron and Steve had waged a war with my pack for a trivial matter and things had spiraled out of control.
I could never forgive them for what they had done to my pack and my family. But right now I was weak and incapable of doing anything against them.
As such, I removed his socks that were stinking and began to rub his feet.
He closed his eyes and drawled, “You know most werewolves wouldn’t even let you touch their feet. But look how generous I am, l let you be in the same room as I, we eat the food that you cook and we also give you a nice place to eat and rest, despite you being nothing than a burden to us.”
My eyes filled with anger and sadness at the same time and I pressed on his foot harder than intended.
