Chapter 1013
Jenny didn’t dare say anything in front of Minerva. But when she saw Rowan staring at Minerva as she left, a sense of insecurity overwhelmed her. She couldn’t hold back and made a few snide comments about Minerva, even suggesting that Rowan might want to get back together with her.
She was impulsive and reckless then, and her words had been harsh. Thinking back now, she regretted it deeply.
That was when Rowan got mad. They had made a pact not to bring up Minerva again. This time, Jenny knew she was in the wrong.
“But I’m your girlfriend. Seeing you stare at Minerva, how could I not be jealous? I know I was wrong, and I swear it won’t happen again.” Jenny’s tone softened as she tried to reason with him.
Lately, Rowan had been growing increasingly intolerant of her. His expression eased a bit, and he said, ” This is the last time.”
“Yes, yes! I promise it’s the last time.” Jenny beamed, relieved that they were able to make up quickly.
Just as they were about to sit down, both of them spotted Skylar at the same time.
Jenny’s face paled. The side of her that had just been pleading with Rowan was now on full display in front of Skylar. A wave of humiliation she had never felt before washed over her.
Rowan was also surprised to see Skylar. Thinking of the argument he had just had with Jenny, he gave Skylar a somewhat awkward smile. “What a coincidence.”
“The cappuccino here is pretty good. You two should try it. I have some errands to run, so I’ll head out now.” Skylar gave them both a nod before quickly exiting to avoid any more awkwardness.
Rowan watched her leave, feeling a heavy weight settle over him.
Jenny bit her lip and said, “I’ve always felt Skylar doesn’t like me. Now I’m sure of it. She didn’t even look at me, just focused on talking to you.”
Rowan hadn’t thought much of it at first. But hearing Jenny’s complaint made him realize something. Skylar hadn’t looked at Jenny at all earlier.
He recalled a recent encounter at the tennis court when Skylar had also seemed distant and unfamiliar toward Jenny. Although he didn’t know Skylar well, he could tell she wasn’t the type to look down on others or judge people based on wealth and status.
Skylar was always kind and respectful to people. So Rowan wondered why she was so cold toward Jenny.
And Joe–he had also started ignoring Jenny all of a sudden.
“Rowan, I don’t like Skylar. I hope I never have to see her again in Jipsburg,” Jenny said, her voice laced with resentment and jealousy. She didn’t even bother hiding it.
Jenny couldn’t help but wonder how it was fair that two women with nearly identical backgrounds could have such different fates. Skylar was married to Joe and was living a privileged life, while she was stuck with Rowan, a disgraced heir cast out by his family.
The more Jenny thought about it, the more bitter and envious she became.
Rowan snapped out of his thoughts, turning sharply to face her.
Jenny flinched under his sudden gaze, feeling uneasy. “Why are you looking at me like that? Rowan, you’ve changed recently. It’s like I don’t even know you anymore.”

The readers' comments on the novel: My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
