Chapter 1014
Rowan’s expression softened. “Alright, let’s not talk about Skylar anymore. Didn’t you want coffee? Take a look and see what you’d like.”
“Okay. Rowan, I love you.” Jenny seized the moment to declare her feelings.
Rowan nodded but didn’t express his affection as he usually did. Jenny noticed it immediately. She could only bite her lip in silence.
A wave of fear washed over her. Jenny was unsure what she would do if Rowan didn’t love her anymore.
His attitude toward her had changed recently. Then she remembered–they still hadn’t slept together. The realization hit her like a sudden chill.
Even when they kissed, it was never a deep, passionate kiss. It was always more like a quick, simple peck, almost casual.
Recently, Jenny was preoccupied with dealing with Edwin, so she hadn’t given much thought to Rowan.
But now…
An hour later, after leaving the café, they got into the car. Without warning, Jenny leaned over and kissed
Rowan.
“You-” Rowan started to pull away, but Jenny deepened the kiss, determined not to let him escape. It was a bold move that Rowan hadn’t anticipated.
It had been a long time since they kissed like this. Jenny’s eyes were filled with a haze of desire.
When the kiss finally ended, she wrapped her arms around his neck and whispered, “Let’s go home, okay?” As adults, they both knew what going home meant at that moment. But Rowan stared at her with a mix of disbelief and confusion, as if he couldn’t believe what he had just heard.

He wondered if it was really just that he valued Jenny so much that he wanted to save their first time for their wedding day. Suddenly, Rowan felt disoriented. He wondered if he truly loved Jenny.
“Rowan, can we go home?” Jenny asked again. She thought Rowan might be overwhelmed and had momentarily forgotten to reply.
Rowan snapped back to reality, his expression conflicted as he looked at Jenny. “I have something to do this afternoon. I’ll take you home first.”
Upon hearing his words, Jenny’s face fell as her excitement and shyness vanished instantly. She stared at Rowan with teary eyes, but he deliberately avoided her gaze, focusing intently on driving.
Jenny tightened her grip, her heart racing with fear. She couldn’t afford to lose Rowan
Rowan had seemed distracted since the encounter with Minerva. She wondered if his behavior toward

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
