Rowan’s behavior showed he either couldn’t let go of Minerva or felt guilty toward her. 

“Minerva has her own aspirations,” Skylar said. 

Rowan’s voice softened, as if he was crying or deeply upset. “I was really a jerk. I chased after my so–called crush and ended up hurting Minerva. She has no reason to forgive me so easily and doesn’t have to.” 

Skylar didn’t know how to comfort him. After all, it was his fault. He didn’t cherish Minerva when he had the chance, only to regret it after hurting her deeply and then expecting forgiveness.

“Really? You’re not lying to me?” Vera sounded doubtful. 

Skylar then replied, “Find someone else if you don’t believe me. I’ve got other things to do.”
