"Vivian, I feel terrible..."
Manfred's voice was filled with grievance and restraint, tugging at the heartstrings of anyone who heard it.
Vivian felt the intense heat radiating from his palm. She spoke to him softly, soothingly, as if comforting a child. "Let me help you up first, then I'll go get some medicine. Once you take it, you'll feel better."
Manfred gazed at her, the flames in his heart growing uncontrollably, spreading like wildfire and consuming his thoughts. He couldn't suppress the overwhelming urge to possess the person before him.
He wanted to taste her soft, rosy lips, to be close to her, to hold her, to make her his. He wanted to trap her by his side, never letting her leave again—never having to wonder if he would see her another day.
These thoughts flooded his mind uncontrollably.
But reason whispered another truth in his ear. He couldn't treat her this way. He couldn't be so beastly, so despicable. She would hate him.
If she left, she wouldn't come back anymore.
"Would you hate me?" His voice was hoarse, his question cautious and fragile.
He knew he must look terrible right now, exuding an uncontrollable air of desperation and decay. How could she not hate him? Even he hated himself.
Vivian froze for a moment, but without the slightest hesitation, she replied, "How could I ever hate you?"
Though he appeared thin, leaning against the wall, his weight was substantial. It took all her strength to help him up.
But he was burning hot. Despite his clothes being half-torn and the room being freezing cold, his body radiated heat like a furnace.
She felt much warmer as he leaned against her.
Manfred caught the faint, delicate fragrance emanating from her—a scent that made his reason falter. Her soft hair carried the same fragrance.

More chapters please...
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
