Sweat trickled down Jenny’s forehead. She bit her lip and clicked on the message Paul had sent her. There were a bunch of pictures and videos. 

There was no need to watch the videos. She knew what they entailed by looking at the pictures. 

Jenny paled as her phone slipped out of her grasp. She didn’t want to face the truth. “How could this be? Who took the photos and videos? How did they do so? I had been taking preventative measures all this time. How could someone have taken these?” 

“No, Mr. Ziegler, these pictures and videos are fakes. They were edited–all of them. I’m not the woman in those videos. Please help me explain what happened to Joe. He mustn’t believe in all this. 

“Who sent you these? The technology available to create fakes has become especially advanced. How could I be the woman in the video? How could you and Joe not know who I am? Both of you have known me for years. Please, don’t believe it. Could you ask Joe to pick up my calls?” 

All of her messages elicited no response. 

She called Joe a few times more. He didn’t pick up. She’d probably been blocked. 

After a while, Jenny had a meltdown in bed. 

“I don’t get it. I don’t understand! Why’s everyone giving me a hard time? Why is Skylar able to garner Joe’s and Gloria’s affection? Yet, they insult and humiliate me. I don’t understand!” 

After sobbing for hours, she scrolled through WhatsApp to find Skylar’s contact information. 

After that, Jenny sent Skylar multiple accusatory voice messages. 

“It was you, wasn’t it? You found someone to stalk and photograph me. You resorted to dirty tactics to destroy my life. Skylar, you’re shameless! Aren’t you afraid that karma will bite you in e ass? 

“Your dreams have come true now. Joe will never believe me again. He won’t love me anymore. I’ll be abandoned by everyone I know in Jipsburg soon. How cruel! Skylar, I hate you. Even if I hadn’t been in the picture, did you think you’d get the last laugh?

Skylar noticed that she had messages coming in one after another. Looking at them, she realized they were all from Jenny.
