Skylar went to the fridge to grab some beers. She also took the opportunity to wash some fruit. 

The table was filled with various beef jerky flavors. As she opened the package, the aroma of the barbecue beef jerky wafted through the air. 

She had been so busy lately that she hadn’t had time to enjoy snacks like this. She remembered seeing posts on Instagram about this popular chain. 

People said it was the best beef jerky shop in Jipsburg City. Tonight, she finally had a chance to try it. 

By the time she finished setting everything up, Joe had come downstairs after his shower. 

They didn’t say much to each other. They sat quietly side by side, watching their show and munching on the peppered beef jerky. 

Joe only took a few bites. He wasn’t a fan of the peppered flavor, but he drank beer and ate some fruit. On the other hand, Skylar had a big appetite. Without realizing it, she had devoured almost half of the beef jerky by herself. 

She belatedly glanced at Joe. 

He seemed unusually easygoing tonight, with an air of friendliness about him. 

The way they sat there now felt like how a normal couple would act. There was no need for words, yet there was a warmth in their eyes when they looked at each other. 

Skylar wondered if it was the beer making her see Joe in a different light. 

“Skylar,” Joe suddenly spoke. 

“Hmm?” She looked up at him, her eyes a bit dazed from the alcohol. 

Joe leaned in and kissed her. 

After the kiss ended, he said, “No divorce. Is that okay?” 

Skylar wondered if she had misheard him saying he didn’t want a divorce. 

“You…” Skylar was stunned. 

She pondered whether he was serious or if it was just a spur–of–the–moment decision. 

Just as she was about to ask if he had really thought it through, her phone suddenly rang. 

Skylar reached for her phone. She answered the call with a distracted tone. “Hello.”
