Chapter 869
Skylar couldn’t shake off her worry about Simona. She had been uneasy ever since receiving the call from Aiken, so she didn’t say anything to Joe.
Throughout the drive to the hospital, they remained silent.
On the way, she glanced through Simona’s Instagram. After returning to school, Simona made friends and frequently visited the library or hung out after classes.
A few hours earlier, just after school let out, Simona had posted a photo of herself playing tennis with her classmates.
Skylar looked at the bright smile on Simona’s face in the post and furrowed her brow.
Joe rolled down the car window. The cool evening breeze helped clear his mind.
Soon, they arrived at the Apollo Hospital.
Skylar quickly hurried to the floor where Simona’s ward was located. Just as she was approaching, she saw two police officers coming out of the ward.

The police officers couldn’t help but wonder what was going on with these students these days. They were committing crimes at such a young age. They felt sorry for the poor girl.
After the police officers walked away, Skylar and Joe exchanged a look. Then, she immediately approached Aiken. “How is Simona?”
“She won’t let me get close. A few of her classmates raped her and another girl. Skye, please, help me. She’s my only sister,” Aiken said. His voice was hoarse, his eyes red and bloodshot.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
