Chapter 946
After exchanging contacts, they went their respective ways. Minerva went to see a doctor, and Skylar collected Joe’s prescription. She returned to Joe’s room with the medicine.
She’d never seen Joe get sick to the point where he needed medication. This time, he needed to take pills because of his wounds. Initially, she’d thought she only needed to prepare water for him. Yet, Joe stared at the medicine in her hand with disdain.
“My immune system is great. I don’t need that.”
Skylar thought she’d misheard. She stared at him thoughtfully. “You’re not scared of taking pills, are you?”
She’d taken a look. There were a few capsules and some sugar–coated pills. Swallowing them shouldn’t be a problem, and they wouldn’t be as unpleasant as traditional medicine.
Joe’s expression froze on his face as though Skylar had seen through him.
Skylar laughed internally. Joe had the temper of a little kid sometimes. She said, “I’ve counted a total of four capsules and two pills. You can swallow them in a few gulps. You won’t feel anything in your throat. Coincidentally, I’ve got two jellybeans with me. Why don’t you try one after you’re done with the medicine?”
Joe shot a glare at Skylar.
Did she think he couldn’t tell she was treating him like a child?
“Jellybeans?”
“Yeah. I don’t know whether you’ve had them before.”
Skylar liked having candy from time to time. It was probably a habit left from her childhood. Charles and Steven pampered her. Whenever they bought snacks with their pocket money, they’d buy a few sweets for her.
She adored jellybeans especially. They were never sickeningly sweat.
When Skylar took the jellybeans out, Joe looked away.
How difficult to appease. However, he was a patient.
Skylar asked patiently, “What would you like for lunch? I could cook. Or should I ask the workers from Pearlhall Residence to send them over?”
An idea popped up in Joe’s head. There was no one else in the room.
He stared at Skylar and asked, “Would those jellybeans be sweeter than you?”
Skylar was caught in surprise. She hadn’t expected Joe to make dirty jokes all of a sudden.
Suddenly, scenes of their passionate nights flashed through her head. Skylar’s breath hitched. She flushed slightly and huffed, “Whatever. Eat it. Or don’t.”
Joe pressed his tongue to the roof of his mouth. With a slight smile, he swallowed the medicine.
“I kinda like it.”
It was clear what he was referring to.
Skylar glanced at Joe. Their eyes met.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
