Willow was teetering on the brink of a hysterical frenzy. Right now, she wanted nothing more than to fly back home and be with her precious angels.
She called Tyson. “Um… has Mr. Hughes left for the day, yet?”
“Yes, Ms. Nason. Quite some time ago, in fact,” Tyson replied. “You didn’t notice?”
“Oh my, I must have been so caught up in work that I lost track of time! So he’s gone off, huh? That’s great to hear. Bye, now!”
Apparently, Jasper was long gone. That meant the coast was clear for Willow to make her getaway. She shouldered her backpack, and slipped out.
On her way through the lobby, Fanny the receptionist called out to her: “Oh, Willow? The Janitorial Department is gathering for dinner tonight, and Mr. Fawcett invites you to join them.”
“Oh no, I’m no good with social events like that. Please forward my apologies to Mr Fawcett for missing out.” She wasn’t interested in hanging out, and would much rather hurry home, to be with her lovely children.
“He said that he’d be deeply offended if you decline.”
Willow honestly couldn’t see what he had to be offended about, here. However, it now seemed that she had no choice in the matter. Anyway, now that she thought about it, she was one of them until very recently, when she was suddenly appointed the CEO’s personal aide.
If she immediately began distancing herself from them, they’d call her stuck-up and holier-than-thou. Willow couldn’t allow them to get the wrong idea about her, so she changed her mind and said, “Well, alright then. Where will everyone be meeting up?”
“Some restaurant, but I can’t pronounce the name of that place… I’ll show you the way there.”
The two women shared a taxi together, which took them to a high-end Japanese restaurant. There they found Sean Fawcett, Jessica Stewart, and several other members of the cleaning staff. However, Willow instantly took exception to a woman who was clothed from head to toe in expensive brand-name apparel…
It was Yelena Anderson!
