"Preslie." Yesseca couldn't help but lean on her friend's shoulder.
What more could she ask for when she had such great friends in life?
"Thank you for accompanying me," muttered Yesseca. "I'm gonna pull myself together. I won't lose my mind and do what I did today again. I will be reborn."
She had completely walked out of the "Tremaine" haze.
"Yesseca," Preslie asked carefully, "Can you tell me what happened?"
Yesseca bit her lip. "Remember that time I asked you to go to the market with me to buy some pork? I made soup for Montez and it turned out to be poisoned. Tremaine didn't believe me when I told him that it wasn't me."
Preslie was alarmed.
She knew about this matter.
Tremaine had asked her before and Yesseca had also told her about it.
However, she did not think much about it.
She felt like it was too ridiculous. Plus, Yesseca had told her nothing about it afterwards, so she figured it was a misunderstanding. Who knew that Yesseca and Tremaine would be separated because of this.
"What happened?" Preslie raised her voice, "There was something actually wrong with the meat? How could it be poisoned?"
Yesseca shook her head. "I don't know, I don't want to think about it anymore. Since he decided that I'm the one who did it, then I'd best forget it. Maybe it'll be a good thing for us once I leave Nashaland and end our relationship."
Preslie's eyes were filled with emotions.
She wanted to say something, but in the end, she did not.
Preslie planned to wait for Sheldon's call the next day to hear what Sheldon had to say about Tremaine before telling Yesseca anything.
She was sure that something wasn't right.
Her gut had a strong hunch that something was strange.
In the President's Mansion of Nashaland.
It might have been because he had been busy these few days, but Sheldon didn't realize that something wasn't quite right about Tremaine.
When he came to work that day, Sheldon noticed that Tremaine looked pale and he seemed to have lost weight.
His usual cold attitude had become even colder. He was like an ice sculpture that had been frozen for years. One couldn't help but feel chilly when walking close to him.
Tremaine was working all morning.
Sheldon didn't dare ask anything and simply accompanied Tremaine to work. It was not until lunch time when Sheldon cautiously said, "Sir, yesterday, Miss Cowell's friend Preslie told me that Miss Cowell seemed to be ill."
Sheldon had planned to warm his way into the topic before fully delving in, but seeing as how Tremaine and Yesseca's relationship had reached to such a point, he guessed that Tremaine probably wouldn't say much if he didn't get straight into it.
Which was why Sheldon decided to be frank.
Tremaine's hands paused midair.
He was dazed for a few seconds before shooting a sharp look at Sheldon, "What do you mean by that!"
Sheldon felt as if his throat was being strangled.
"Sir, I, I..." He was suffocated, unable to utter a complete sentence.
Tremaine put down his cutleries and stood up. He looked down at Sheldon and said, "Don't mention a word about Yesseca in front of me!"
Sheldon could only reply, "Yes, Sir."
Tremaine left his meal unfinished and walked away.
Sheldon's forehead was drenched in sweat.
He wiped away the sweat on his forehead as his heart lurched.
It seemed like the conflict between Yesseca and Tremaine had been blown out of proportion. He said Yesseca was ill, but Tremaine had had no reaction to it at all. This...
Yesseca was about to be discharged from the hospital.
