Sheldon took a serious look at Preslie and said, "I think you look better when you're a little chubby."
Preslie was speechless.
She opened her eyes wide. "Are you serious, Mr. Hawls?"
People in this world, regardless of gender, all liked to be good-looking. Why would anyone think being chubby is good-looking?
"Of course," Sheldon said, "You look cute when you’ re chubby."
A blush flew across Preslie's face.
She said with embarrassment, "Don't tease me, Mr. Hawls. What's so good about being fat? I just want to be thin."
Sheldon didn't say anything.
Although he felt like Preslie looked better when she was a little bigger, he didn't say anything further after her comment.
"Why are you here Mr. Hawls?" Preslie changed the subject.
She wasn't in the mood to talk about her body size.
Sheldon coughed and said, "Merlin was always asking me about your return, so I came to ask you."
Preslie's breath froze for a moment.
Merlin...
She was the leader of the staff working in the President's office, a leader who was strict in the beginning but turned out to be a good superior.
Preslie liked her very much.
If possible, she was willing to work with such a leader for the rest of her life.
Unfortunately, there was no such possibility.
Preslie's tone was a little bitter. "Mr. Hawls, how can I go back after handing in my resignation letter? Please Merlin that I won't be coming back."
"Preslie!" Sheldon said, "Although you submitted your resignation letter, no one wants you to leave. The gate of the office is open to you at any time. Please come back."
A conflicted look flashed across her eyes.
After a long time, she finally took a deep breath and said, "I'm not going back. Tremaine treated Yesseca so badly. I can't possibly turn around."
Sheldon was anxious.
Preslie was really stupid and stubborn.
Their conflict is their business. Why would Preslie want to get involved in it?
"How he treated Yesseca was..."
Before Sheldon could finish his words, Preslie, who had expected that Sheldon would say something, interrupted him. "I know it's their business, but Yesseca is my friend. She took me to Nashaland. I've told you many times about it. I know that even if I'm not smart, poor and are not beautiful, I still have the loyalty of a warrior."
Sheldon was speechless
He felt helpless.
After waiting for so long, he came to look for Preslie. He thought she wouldn't be so strong-willed. He tried to persuade her to go back to Nahsaland, but he didn't expect that...
She was such a stubborn, silly girl.
Sheldon said subconsciously, "I was looking forward to seeing you here. No one's making or having dinner with me. It's boring to be alone."
"For me," Sheldon felt hot in his head and said, "could you go back to Nashaland?"
Preslie was stunned.
She didn't expect him to say such a thing.
She looked at him in a daze, feeling out of it for quite some time.
Seeing Preslie's reaction, Sheldon smiled bitterly inside.
"Why am I so stupid?" Sheldon cursed himself.
Of course she wouldn't go back to Nashaland for him.
They weren't involved with each other, so why did she have to?
Besides, if Preslie really had even a flicker of affection for him, she wouldn't even have left Nashaland in the first place.
His heart suddenly sank.
Sheldon said, "I'll be heading back first. I have something else to do."
Then, he turned around and left.
Preslie's eyes fell on his back.
Sheldon's back used to look tall and heroic, but now, she found that his back looked so lonely.
Preslie's eyes hurt.
Preslie paced back and forth in the corridor outside Yesseca's place. She came to Yesseca's house several times and wanted to knock on her door, but she couldn't bring herself to.
After lingering around for another ten minutes or so, Preslie finally stomped her feet and walked down the stairs.
Forget it. She'd better stay at a hotel tonight.
She was stupid and didn't know how to act. She might expose herself in front her sooner or later.
Yesseca already felt terrible to begin with. Preslie no longer wanted to make things difficult for Yesseca.
As soon as Preslie went downstairs, she suddenly heard a shrilling "creak".
That was the loud sound of a tire rubbing against the ground.
Preslie subconsciously looked over and saw a Maybach parked in front of Yesseca's house.
Surprise flashed through her eyes.
A Maybach.
There was such a luxurious car in a small area like Yesseca's neighborhood.
Preslie subconsciously sized the car up and immediately realized that something was wrong.
Why did the figure in the car window seem so familiar?
Preslie looked at the car again. She could see the person clearly, and she was shocked at the identity of the man who was sitting in the Maybach.
Tremaine.
Preslie's mind was hurled into chaos.
How could it be Tremaine?
Why did he come to Yesseca's house?
Just then, the car door opened.
Preslie was stunned for a moment and dashed to the corner of the corridor.
However, the corridor was only so small and Tremaine would definitely see Preslie if he went upstairs.
When Preslie realized that hiding was a ridiculous option, if Tremaine saw her, that was it.
It was by coincidence that the two of them happened to meet, and now she even had the chance to interrogate Tremaine and ask him why he was such a disloyal man!
