My Husband Is A Gary Stu novel Chapter 578

Chapter 578

Herbert knew the hardships that Sylvie had gone through and wiped away the tears streaming down her checks as he said, “It was my fiuult for not being able to protect you well in the past.”

Herbert then turned to his driver and said, “Let the police deal as they see fit. Do not let others intervenc in the matter,”

“Yes,” the driver said and headed out to make a call.

Sylvie’s eyes were red as she muttered, “Thank you, Granddad.”

“Why are you thanking me? You’re my granddaughter. How could I sit idly by and Ict others bully you?”

Even though Genevieve had left a good impression on him, Herbert knew he had to get his priorities straight. After all, Genevieve had bullied his granddaughter and tried to murder someone by poisoning them, and the police even had the evidence of her doing it, nonetheless.

She deserved to be convicted of her crimes if she had really committed them.

Meanwhile, after the news of Paula’s poisoning had broken out, Cooper calmly contacted the best PR in the industry and utilized other news to divert the attention from the alleged poisoning

He could not care less about the plummeting share prices. In fact, Cooper was more concerned that Genevieve would be lynched at the police station.

Cooper asked someone to keep an eye on the golf course while he drove to the police station. However, he was stopped by a Rolls-Royce when he arrived at the entrance of the police station.

Steven came out of the car and knocked on Cooper’s window with a grim look on his face. “Mr. Sutton. I’m afraid you cannot go to the police station right now.”

“There is incriminating evidence that Ms. Rachford has indeed poisoned Mrs. Hossler. Word trending on the internet has it that you’re going to use your influence to wriggle Genevieve out of this. There are reporters swarming the police station too. Your presence there is only going to further solidify their claims, and the police will only hasten Ms. Rachford’s conviction.”

Cooper’s face darkened as he said, “I know that Sylvie’s grandfather is also at Jadeborough. He is quite close to the chief, Mr. Forger. I’m afraid that Old Mr. Zeigler’s words would worsen Genevieve’s stance in the matter.”

**The whole nation has their eyes peeled on this case,” Steven said. “I trust that the police officers are wise enough to not harm Ms. Rachford.”

Cooper went silent. Noticing his silence, Steven continued. “I’ve called a lawyer named Mr. Thoinpson. He will head to the police station to ask for more details. We just have to wait.”

Cooper lifted his head right then as he leveled a gauging stare at Steven.

His sharp gaze made Steven uncomfortable.

“Did someone ask you to say so?”

After all, Steven had been the chief secretary for many years. He was smart and charismatic, but it was also known that he was fiercely loyal to Armand, and Armand only. Cooper knicw that Steven could not say the same for his attitude toward Genevieve.

Merely hours after the news broke out on the internet, Steven had managed to get a trip of the situation and sorted things out.

It was not something that Steven was capable of.

Cooper noticed that a hesitant look llccted across Steven’s eyes, and he knew that his guess was spot-on. The look in his eyes darkened as he demanded, “Who was it? Did Jack call you?”

Steven sometimes found Cooper’s slirewdness intimidating.

Before he even said anything, Cooper already guessed that those were not his words. Steven even reckoned that if he had told Cooper what happened to Genevieve, Cooper would have discovered that Armand was not dead.

Beads of cold sweat broke out on Steven’s forehead as he maintained a cool and composed manner. “He’s really worried about Ms. Rachford.”

“I knew it.” Cooper snorted.

Armand is already gone. The only other man who cares about Genevieve and is as smart as I am could only be Jack Valentine

Before Cooper drove off, he asked Steven in a puzzled manner, “Don’t you only listen to Armand? You refused to be appointed as the chief secretary at Specter Corporation when offered the position. So, why would you listen to Jack?”

Steven merely replied, “That does not matter. What matters is that we get Ms. Rachford out of this situation.”
