Chapter 577
Genevieve was handcutled and brought back to the police station,
As she sat in the interrogation room, the 11sh white light of the room shone dowi on her and she felt liglitheaded
Il that does Mrs. Ilossler‘s poisoning hatvanything to do with me?
Then, the interrogator took out a small bag that was the size of a fingernail. The bag contained white powder and was placed on the table. Ile claimed that the bag of white powder-potassium cyanide, was found in the coat that Genevieve had left at the golf course.
Potassium cyanide was extremely toxic and lethal in minute doses.
Genevieve found the incriminating evidence amusing, “I’m not dumb. If I truly wanted Mr. Hossler, why would I leave this inside my coat?”
“The most dangerous places are oftentimes the safest,” the interrogator said. “There is not a single corner in the golf course that is without surveillance cameras. So, you have nowhere else to dispose of the potassium cyanide and could only place it back inside your coat, thinking you’d find a chance to get rid of it afterward. Then, you followed the ambulance to the hospital in a rush without taking your coat with you.”
There were surveillance cameras all around the golf course, and the cup of coffee that she poured for Paula happened to contain potassium cyanide.
The police claimed that the surveillance camera footage showed that she had poisoned Paula’s coffcc.
Genevieve could not prove her innocence as the police claimed that the footage was enough evidence to incriminate her. However, she knew that she was not the one who poisoned Paula.
Someone was trying to kill two birds with one stone-killing Paula and incriminating her at the same time.
Soon, the news of Paula being rushed to the emergency room for poisoning spread like wildfire on the internet. Someone had witnessed Genevieve being taken away by the police and speculated that it was her that poisoned Paula.
There were initially not many discussions on the news. However, someone mentioned that Cooper was Genevieve’s brother and implied that Cooper would cover up the news soon enough.
Ironically, that had made it one of the trending topics on multiple websites. Some people were even making sardonic comments like Marlon from Exuberance Group would be heartless if he chose to make amends with Cooper,
The share price of Specter Corporation had been fluctuating as a result.
After Herbert came out of the golf course, he went back straight to the hotel as he waited for Sylvie so that they could have dinner together.
He only knew about the news on Paula’s poisoning after his driver told him about it. The latter had seen it from the news.
Nonetheless, Herbert did not believe that Genevieve had poisoned Paula. “She’s not the kind of person who would poison others. If she did lace the coffee with poison in front of everyone else. why would she help me pick up mcdicine that time at the airport”
“The surveillance cameras had captured the footage.” the driver said. “Mrs. Hossler was only
slie drank the collec that was poured by Genevieve. The potassium cyanide was even found in her coat.”
“Who would be so dumb to keep the remaining poison after committing the crime?” Herbert retorted.
For unbeknownst reason, Herbert believed that Genevicvc was a kind-hearted woman and that she would never do such a thing.
Just when he was about to order his driver to ask the police to be thorough with the investigation and go casy on Genevieve, Sylvie arrived home right then.
Sylvie ran toward Herbert as soon as she came back and asked the latter in a surprised tone, “Granddad, I heard from the news saying that Mrs. Hossler has been poisoned and rushed to the emergency room. What happened?”
“I’m not too sure either. It happened after I left,” Herbert replied.
“I heard it was Genevieve who poisoned her, and there was incriminating evidence as well. She’s currently being interrogated at the police station,” Sylvie said as she sat down next to the old man.
Herbert nodded, “Yeah.”
“Granddad, aren’t you close with the chief of Jadeborough police station, Mr. Forger?” Sylvie asked as she circled her hands around her grandfather’s arm affectionately. “I hope that you could urge Mr. Forger to investigate the case impartially. Poisoning someone to their death is a crime that is punishable by death, and Genevieve should rightfully be convicted so. Don’t let her get away with it through Cooper’s influences. This is not going to be fair to Mrs. Hossler.”
