Someone knocked on the door, and Leah’s clear voice invited them in. It was Shane who pushed the door open, and as soon as Leah laid eyes on him, she had a premonition. Leah and Shane had always met privately throughout the years, making this their first open appearance together. 

“Leah?” 

“Shane?” 

They spoke simultaneously and then said in unison, “You’re still the same.” 

They exchanged smiles, displaying their strong understanding of each other. 

Liliane’s curious eyes observed Shane, who wore gold-rimmed glasses and a well-tailored suit, exuding refinement and gentlemanliness. 

“Mom, who’s this?” asked Liliane. 

Leah openly explained, “This is Shane, my college classmate. Shane, this is my daughter, Liliane.” 

Shane generously complimented, “Your daughter bears a striking resemblance to you when you were 

young. 

Leah smiled and replied, “My daughter inherited her father’s good genes and looks even better than I did in my youth!” 

“Mom…” Liliane blushed. 

Leah knew that Shane must have come with a purpose but was wary of raising suspicion if they communicated directly, so he decided to visit in person. She handed the wedding planning proposals prepared by the wedding company to Liliane. 

“Liliane, take a look at these first. I’ll have a chat with Uncle Shane.” 

As old classmates, it was only natural for Leah and Shane to catch up when they met. 

“Mom, it’s already time for dinner. Why don’t you invite Uncle Shane to have a meal?” suggested Liliane. 

“Do I need you to remind me? Just take a good rest!” said Leah. 

In front of others, Leah and Shane pretended not to be familiar at all. As soon as they entered the restaurant’s private room, they dropped the facade and became familiar and close again. 

Shane poured a glass of water for Leah attentively and looked at her charming face with concern. “Leah, don’t worry too much about Liliane’s illness.” 

Since Liliane’s condition worsened, Leah had trouble eating and sleeping, and there were faint dark circles under her eyes. She took a sip of water and scolded him, “Shane, don’t pretend to comfort me. Let me tell you, I’m different from you. Liliane’s my only daughter. Unlike you, with a wife and son, Liliane is my everything. If something happens to her, I don’t want to live anymore.” 

“Leah, Liliane’s my daughter too. She didn’t grow up by my side, and I owe her a lot. Don’t worry. I will find a suitable heart as soon as possible. Once she undergoes the heart transplant surgery, all the problems will be solved.” Shane comforted Leah softly. “Liliane needs someone to take care of her, so you have to take good care of yourself as well.” 

Leah looked deeply into Shane’s eyes and sighed weakly. “Shane, I plan to divorce that useless man Anstey after Liliane gets married to Bradley.”
