Shane said with a frown, “I heard from Scott. All we need to do is find a suitable heart for her transplant.” 

“You say it so easily. We’ve been searching for a heart for Liliane since she was born. Have you found a suitable one?” Leah’s heart thumped rapidly, feeling as if something bad was about to happen. “Why did that old man suddenly want to go to the hospital?” 

“He checked the records of Esther’s labor.” Shane reassured, “But don’t worry. I’ve made modifications to those records.” 

Leah finally breathed a sigh of relief. She instructed, “Arrange for someone to follow him and see what he’s up to. Liliane’s health isn’t good right now, and we can’t let her be disturbed even slightly.” 

“Liliane’s my biological daughter. Of course, I know how to take care of her!” 

Leah pinched Shane’s arm and scolded angrily, “If it weren’t for you going abroad back then and me not being able to contact you, would I have found Billy Anstey as a replacement?” 

Shane said, “Leah, my baby, I was wrong. Come here. I’ll give you a kiss.” 

Leah could not help but laugh at Shane’s deliberate attempt to please her. She looked at him seriously and said, “I remember that Esther should’ve undergone an examination in the prison hospital. Check if her heart is suitable for Liliane’s transplant.” 

Shane was shocked. “Are you suggesting…” 

Leah sneered. “Do you want to transplant your own son’s heart to our daughter instead?” 

Shane initially hesitated, but when he thought about his biological son, he gave up the idea. It would be better to use Esther’s heart, after all. Besides, they had harmed Esther before, so there was no turning back. Esther was always there to obstruct Liliane’s path anyway. 

“I’ll go to the hospital tomorrow to check. Get our daughter’s examination data from Scott too,” said Shane. 

Shane and Leah were once a couple when they were young, but they broke up due to various circumstances. Later, they both formed their own families, but they continued to have secret contact with each other. It was just that their interactions were not obvious, and nobody had found out about it! 

Moreover, they had a daughter together, which signified their deepest bond. 

“Why don’t we tell Lili the truth?” Leah thought about her daughter, who knew nothing about her own identity. 

Shane shook his head and rejected that idea. “No, Liliane isn’t in good health. If we tell her this news and she can’t accept it, what if something happens?” 

“Then we’ll wait until after the heart transplant surgery” Leah’s eyes suddenly turned red, feeling deeply sorry for Shane. He knew that his daughter was right in front of him, but they could not reunite with each other. She said softly, “Have someone keep an eye on Clark and, if necessary…” 

Leah made a throat-slitting gesture. 

Shane leaned close to Leah’s face and kissed her deeply. “Whatever you say, baby, I’ll do it as your husband.”
