My Husband Wants Me Dead (Esther and Bradley) novel Chapter 278

Chapter 278

As Billy entered the ward, he saw Liliane silently weeping, clutching her chest.

“Dad.” Liliane looked at Billy with teary eyes and suddenly thought of Leah, who was captured. Urgently, she pleaded, “Dad, Mom’s been arrested. Hurry and save her!”

Billy examined Liliane from head to toe. He had once believed firmly that Liliane was his biological daughter and saw similarities between them. But now, the cruel truth stood before him, and he could no longer deceive himself into thinking that Liliane resembled him in any

way.

“Liliane, return the wedding gift to me,” Billy stated.

Caught off guard by her father’s request, Liliane asked in astonishment, “Dad, why do you want something that’s already been given away?”

Billy stood in front of Liliane’s hospital bed and explained, “It was meant as your wedding gift, but since you haven’t gotten married, there’s no need to keep it with you for now.”

Confused, Liliane turned her head to look at her father’s emotionless face. She weakly protested, “Dad, you only have me as your daughter. Everything in the Ansteys will eventually belong to me…”

“Who says you’re the only daughter of the Ansteys?” Billy pulled a chair and sat before

Liliane, taking out his phone. He aimed the camera at Liliane’s sickly face and said, “Esther is also my daughter.”

A trace of annoyance and killing intent flashed in Liliane’s eyes. “Dad, didn’t you say she has no blood relation to you?”

“An adopted daughter is still a daughter,” Billy replied, realizing Liliane shared the same. materialistic traits as her malicious mother. “She should receive her fair share.”

“But Dad, Esther is already Bradley’s wife. The Warners are wealthy and influential. Why would they care about your small possessions?”

Liliane had been bestowed with stocks, properties, and everything else. How could she bear to give it all back?

Unfazed, Billy spoke coldly. “What she has is hers, and what I give her is from me. Can they be considered the same?”

“Dad…” Liliane suddenly mentioned Leah, adopting a righteous tone, “Does Mom know about the things you’re saying to me?”

“She does!” Billy had lost interest in playing the loving father with Liliane. He had given her a chance. If Liliane had been willing to return the gift, he would have relented, even if it was only for show.

As Leah had said, Liliane was the daughter he had watched grow up. Despite the lack of blood ties, the bond and affection of a father-daughter relationship built over the years could not be easily erased.
