Chapter 388
Esther had unknowingly written over 1,000 words, capturing their first encounter, deep affection for him, misunderstandings, and final decision to part ways.
As words turned into sentences, their once passionate and sweet love faded into a distant memory between the lines.
Finishing her letter, Esther couldn’t hold back her emotions any longer. She hugged her knees, burying her head in her arms, and burst into tears.
After a while, Esther wiped her tears and sent the document to Tanya.
Initially, Tanya did not intend to read it, but her curiosity got the better of her. Esther’s words carried a strong sense of immersion, allowing Tanya to witness a young girl’s pure passion burning throughout her youth.
Tanya: [Got it. I’ll notify you when it’s ready to be published. Feel free to register an account when it’s ready. Leave the rest to me.]
The mountainous workload of the auditing team prevented Bradley from leaving the city. Despite his anger, he endured the audit, anxiously checking his emails for something new.
Yet, nothing arrived. As a result, Bradley’s mood grew colder and gloomier, the atmosphere mirroring his emotions.
Kevin knocked on Bradley’s office door and called out, “Bradley.”
Displeased, Bradley asked, “Are you here to ridicule me?”
Kevin had received a call from Tanya. She had informed him that Esther was planning to divorce Bradley and wanted Kevin to testify against him in court.
A part of Kevin was still selfish, as he didn’t want to see Bradley and Esther’s marriage dissolve.
“Do you know where Esther is, Bradley?” Kevin asked again.
Bradley sneered, his eyes flashing with a sinister glimmer. “I knew it. That woman is still alive! She must have many more tricks up her sleeve. She made Jasper and the Quills help her fake her death to escape from me. But I’ll make her come back willingly!”
A cold chill ran down Kevin’s spine. “Have you ever considered why she wanted to escape from you, Bradley?”
“Why should I care?” Bradley responded coldly.
Kevin continued, showing some resentment as he spoke. “I was relieved to know she hadn’t drowned in the sea and died… I thought the shackles in my heart had finally come off. But during her absence, I was haunted by nightmares, feeling the despair of drowning in the past. Whenever I woke up, I realized I would have died if Esther hadn’t asked you to come to save me. So, I’m glad she’s still alive, and it eases my guilt toward her.”
Clearly unhappy with what he heard, Bradley demanded, “If you’re here to plead on her behalf, leave!”
