Chapter 568
Esther was filled with terror. She feared losing all connection to Bradley, unable to even be his confidant. She realized she wouldn’t have the authority to consent to a liver transplant if he needed one.
The thought of Bradley marrying Mandy caused her unbearable pain. They were so young, and she imagined them having their own children and finding happiness together. Her heartache was so intense that it made breathing difficult as if an invisible force were suffocating her.
“Esther, it’s your turn to sign,” Chadwick urged, his eyes narrowing sinisterly. “Do you need help signing your name?”
Esther felt empty, devoid of emotions. She sat on the sofa mechanically and picked up the divorce papers Bradley had signed, which now included a clause granting him sole custody of their child. She would only have visitation rights, subject to Bradley’s discretion. Without his permission, Esther couldn’t approach Felix for any reason.
She scribbled her last name in the wife’s column with trembling hands. Her fingers were weak and lacking strength, and the characters she wrote appeared almost childlike.
Bradley impatiently drummed his fingers on the table. Take this seriously. Don’t waste my time.”
Esther looked up tearfully, only to be met with Bradley’s indifferent gaze. It shattered her heart into pieces, and she felt her vision blur as if it were clouding with her tears.
“What are you waiting for, Esther? Sign the papers!” Chadwick bellowed impatiently.
Chadwick couldn’t contain his urging of Esther. As she held the pen, her eyes locked with Chadwick’s, making her feel like she was staring at a malevolent ghost hungry for her soul. Her heart raced in her chest, and her body was covered in cold sweat with damp bangs.
Suddenly, Bradley stood up and approached her. Wrapping his arms around her, he tightly gripped her hand and whispered venomously in her ear, “The idea of sharing even a piece of paper with you disgusts me.”
He guided her hand and helped her write her name on the divorce papers. She had only scribbled half her name when her heart clenched, and she fainted in his arms.
“Esther, stop pretending-”
