Chapter 620
As soon as Esther heard Chadwick’s voice, fear gripped her, and she shivered. “Mr. Pendleton.”.
Chadwick glanced at the pale-faced Esther, his anger evident. “Esther, consider this your final warning. Our wedding date is set. I won’t hold back if you try anything during this time.”
Tears welled up in Esther’s eyes as she choked out, “Mr. Pendleton, don’t worry. I’ll keep my promise.”
Chadwick sneered. “You better behave as my woman, or I might introduce you to some unwelcome friends.”
Every word from Chadwick felt like a poisonous dart piercing Esther’s heart. She numbly nodded and replied, “I understand.”
Chadwick seemed satisfied with her response and softened his tone. “The Pendleton staff will bring you meals and attend to Mandy. Take care of yourself. Don’t bring shame to the Pendletons at the wedding.”
Esther remained silent and nodded again.
Chadwick smiled wickedly, thinking, ‘Bradley, oh Bradley, you think I can’t see through your schemes? You claim not to love Esther, but your actions speak louder.’
Chadwick anticipated Bradley’s moves and contemplated the trap he would set for the wedding, excitement coursing through him.
Once Chadwick left, Esther collapsed onto the hospital bed, weakened. Was she really going to marry Chadwick? If not, would he truly carry out his threat to take Mandy’s liver from Bradley?
Esther was lost in her thoughts when she suddenly heard a commotion in the corridor. The nurses were exclaiming.
Esther was already overwhelmed by the thoughts of Chadwick and Bradley and felt a throbbing headache. She gently opened her room’s door and saw delivery men bringing bundles of red roses into Mandy’s room.
“Oh my goodness! So many roses…”
“Who could it be? Did they buy out the entire flower shop in the city?”
“Hey, delivery guy, who ordered all these roses for Ms. Pendleton?”
In response to the nurse’s question, a delivery man explained, “A Mr. Bradley Warner ordered them.”
Upon hearing Bradley’s name, the nurses all looked curiously toward Esther’s room.
Esther stood at her door, her heart aching at the mention of Bradley’s name.
