Unlike some people who sought help and shared their problems, whether big or small, Esther stood out. Perhaps it was because she had grown up in a difficult family, where Leah mistreated her, and Billy was a weak-willed man. Growing up, she had learned to rely on herself. She had developed a habit of dealing with everything independently, no matter how important or trivial.
"Xara, I don't want to talk right now." Esther firmly resisted engaging in a conversation with Xara.
Observing Esther's reluctance, Xara sighed and offered, "Esther, you appeared so content during your time abroad. If you're unhappy here, especially considering Felix's condition, perhaps it would be better for you to go overseas for a change.
Given your relationship with Bradley, staying here could be detrimental to Felix's recovery."
Esther lowered her gaze before looking at Xara. Her voice was strained as she asked, "Can Felix be cured?"
"Healing the heart requires more than medicine. Although Felix's condition seems challenging, it's not hopeless. But, as a mother, you should understand that if your relationship with Bradley stays as it is, Felix's condition won't improve.
"I know your personality, and you're not someone who simply accepts everything. I'm not sure what Bradley is using as leverage, but I know it's something very important to you."
A gruesome image of a blood-soaked severed hand suddenly flashed in Esther's mind, causing her to gag involuntarily.
Xara swiftly poured a glass of water for her and said gently, "Esther, take some water."
Esther shook her head and calmly stated, "I don't want to drink."
"In that case..."
Seeing the concern in Xara's eyes, Esther felt compelled to share, "My daughters are in Bradley's control."
Shocked, Xara asked, "Esther, are you certain?"
