The search for the Cullens was omnipresent, but a person had mysteriously disappeared for four whole years, and there was still no news at all. No one had ever seen a figure like him before, could it be that they are still trying to deceive themselves?
Alice looked at Elizabeth, "Madam, I thought you were waiting for him."
Why did he decide death when the four-year deadline arrived, and why did he decide such a thing?
As long as she could not see William's corpse, she would believe that he was still alive throughout her entire life.
"Do you think I'm refusing to wait?" Elizabeth looked at her and said, "It's been four years. Not mentioning spending all of your Brown's resources on an empty island, Cullens has spent all of our manpower and resources on this.
"He will come back."
Alice said.
"My husband said it two years ago. He's not looking for William now, but waiting." Elizabeth said, and her voice was filled with sorrow, "If I hadn't insisted, he would have given up on searching."
Alice lowered her eyes.
Now, they were not looking for him, but waiting. Such a realistic sentence.
After four years of searching, anyone would be numbness. The search degree had been greatly reduced, so the only thing they could do was waiting.
"Are you still looking for him? I heard you decided to sell the island? "
Elizabeth asked her.
In the past few years, they had been searching for someone at the same time. Alice and Daniel had nearly used up all of their personal assets.
Regarding this, Elizabeth was moved.
"Yes."
She was looking for a buyer. Her mother had left her a lot of personal property before she passed away, and the White Sands Islands was her last remaining value asset.
"Let it go. Rather than wasting money on intangible search, it's better to give it to the twins later." Elizabeth paused for a moment before adding, "Furthermore, that is the last inheritance you have, so I think you are not willing to sell it."
How could she bear to do that?
But she could not stop her search. If she stopped, she would feel that she had subconsciously determined William's death. She did not want to do this.
Elizabeth's eyelashes were wet with tears. She calmed her emotions for a while and then said, "There have been a lot of financial storms around the world these few years. N.E. suffered a lot. If this continues, N.E. will fall, so I am anxious to give William a death verdict."
It turned out to be an economic consideration.
Alice became silent, but she had no right to interfere in this matter. Elizabeth was William's parent, so she could take back N.E.
"When we take N.E. back, we won't want the property. Well give it to the twins equally." Elizabeth said, "You should be happy to hear this news."
In the past, she only wanted to raise the Cullens's kids within the Cullens, and didn't want to raise Holly and Kathy according to the requirements of the Cullens's successor. But now, she only wanted this pair of twins.
Whatever the background of the twins' mother, she had to be nurtured.
She can't give less to the twins.
"I don't want the children to take on family responsibilities prematurely." Alice said.
"This is called inheritance. William and you just don't understand this principle, so one went missing, while the other with a broke family."
Elizabeth said.
A person unwilling to rely on and bear the burden of the clan was naturally weak.
Alice's face turned pale white.
No one would feel comfortable listening to these words.
After all, four years had passed, Elizabeth no longer had the hostility and enmity towards Alice from before.
And sometimes, Elizabeth felt that the only person who could speak with her was Alice.
Her husband had to manage many things, and the servants and the butler couldn't completely understand her. Only Alice had the same feelings towards William and the twins, which made the two of them have this relationship, and speak a little more in unison.
Seeing Alice's unpleasant expression, she knew that her words were too harsh. She cleared her throat and said, "That shop of yours should be closed, right?"
"I don't want to."
"N.E. will be gone soon."
"N.E. need not to be here. My shop will still be here."
Alice said indifferently, but her tone was very insistent.
"It's up to you." Elizabeth said. She looked at Alice deeply, and sighed emotionally, "Mona is going to get married, do you know that?"
Alice nodded her head, "I saw the news. I heard that her wedding isn't that low-key. And the other party's family was the United States governments officer."
"You can see her ambition."
Elizabeth said, as her tone carrying a hint of disdain.
Back then, Mona had told her that she had secretly fallen in love with William for five years. She didn't hate him, and was willing to wait for him. But in these two years, Mona and that American man frequently went out, and were about to get married.
Alice did not say anything, but picked up her bag. She took out a flat gift box and handed it to Elizabeth: "This is a New Year gift for you."
Every time Alice came from China, she would bring her a present.
