"I have made the plan of our future, please do not mess around, alright?" William said while leaning against her, "Don't mess up the road I want to take."
"Can I?"
Alice asked. From the moment he came back, hadn't he always been stubborn?
How could she disturb him?
"You disturbed me today. I was in a meeting right now, but you threatened me." William said in a low voice, "I can only stay and accompany you."
How much did a man care if he interrupted his work for a woman?
He had to stay.
Did he treat her like a little kid crying without any reason?
In the past, it was always him that wanted to see her. But now, she actually had to rely on this method to make him stay for a moment.
Alice reached out her hand to push him away, and he was pushed away by her, "William, I'm in a mess right now. I want some peace and quiet."
"Alright." William did not object, he immediately grabbed hold of the suit he was wearing and tidied it up, then looked at the time, "Go back and calm down in the gallery, I'll go see you later."
Alice didn't say a word as she walked forward and pulled open the door.
"Alice."
William called out to her.
Alice stopped in her tracks, and looked back at his face.
"Are you okay?" William asked with a hint of worry in his tone, he stared at her small, pale face.
This was the first time she heard a tone of concern in his voice since William had returned.
"I don't know."
she said honestly.
William walked towards her and pulled her towards the elevator. He pressed the button, looked at her and said, "Don't let your thoughts run wild. Go back and have a good rest.
Alice remained silent.
When the elevator door opened, Alice was gently pushed by William into the elevator. He stood outside the door and stared at her until the elevator door closed.
Alice stood inside with a pair of red eyes looking at him.
The moment the door closed, Alice did not know what she was thinking, and pressed the button to open the door.
The elevator door slowly opened.
She looked up and saw William's back. His footsteps did not have the slightest hesitation as he walked forward calmly and steadily.
The direction he was heading towards was the Office of the President.
There, Mona was waiting.
Alice stood silently in the elevator and watched. Wasn't it a meeting?
She did not chase after William to threaten him again, but chose to close the elevator door and press the number for the ground floor. She leaned against the cold wall of the elevator.
Again.
It was as painful as it had been four years ago when her parents died.
The pain made her want to kill herself, but she couldn't shed a single tear.
Stepping out of the elevator, Alice walked out step by step. Once she walked out, the employees who saw her were extremely happy.
"Miss Alice, congratulations. The CEO is finally back."
"The CEO is such a good person, he gave us a raise the moment he came back."
"When are you getting married? Will the CEO give out a bonus? "
"Miss Alice, you are finally able to see the light of day. I am truly happy for you."
Alice didn't know how she made it out of the N. E Building. She was in pain, it really hurt.
She stood in front of the building and leaned against the wall as she squatted down in the corner. Her lips quivered, and her eyes grew redder and redder, but there were no tears.
Maybe the she would have felt better if tears came out.
But she couldn't cry.
It was unbearable.
No, it was New Year's Eve, how could she spend a happy New Year with the twins like this?
Alice shook her head and stood up to leave. She did not go to the Gallery, but walked along the road, getting further and further away.
In the N.E Building, Office of the President, a large, empty office. The sunlight shone through the French windows like a soft hand sweeping through every inch of air gracefully. It was extremely warm.
William pushed the door open and walked in.
Mona sat on the chair, her black silk-clad legs intertwined as she twirled in the chair. Her red lips were slightly raised, making her seem in a very good mood, and her long golden hair made her face look especially beautiful.
"That long?" Mona stopped and looked at William's handsome face, then laughed mockingly: "The past you can't handle Alice, the present you can't, either?"
