But now she couldn't see any sign that he had been hurt.
Why was it like this?
"There's nothing to look at. I've been receiving treatment ever since the treatment entered its climax. Now that medicine is in its prime, there's nothing strange about it leaving no traces behind." William retracted his hand.
"Is it painful to be treated?" Alice asked.
"There's something in this world called painkillers or anesthetics. Once used, there's no pain at all." William said coldly, as if he was talking about something that had nothing to do with him.
He turned his body and walked to the French window, leaving her a back.
Painkiller? Anesthetic?
What kind of life had he lived for four years?
Alice wiped away the tears on her face, then walked towards him and pulled him over. The action was extremely rude, and William was shocked by her actions, "What are you doing?"
Was she even a woman? She tugged at him so hard.
"I apologize to you."
Alice said with bloodshot eyes. Her hands tightly gripped his sleeves, and pulled creases.
"You're just apologizing to me like that?"
William lowered his gaze at a button on the shirt which had been removed by her. Now the suit was wrinkling by her again.
Was she apologizing or destroying?
"I'm seriously apologizing to you for what I said before." Alice looked at him seriously, his fingers tightly grasping his sleeves, "I know that apologizing is of no use right now, but I still want to say it. I'm sorry, William. I just said those words to you before I went to properly understand you."
William lowered his gaze, a hint of unease flitting past his ice-cold face. He pushed her hand away and said coldly, "I don't need your apology. The person you owe the most to is the old me, not the person standing in front of you."
'Tm sorry. I didn't know you suffered so much."
Alice admitted that she was wrong by far. She thought that the treatment was a understatement, but she did not expect it to be such a painful process.
"So what if you know? Will you welcome my existence?" William looked at her coldly, "The people you miss are the past William, aren't you?"
Hearing this, Alice could not help but bite her lips, and said weakly, "I know I said something wrong, so don't keep bringing it up. If you keep mentioning it, I would think you are jealous."
Jealous for himself.
"Jealous? I'm sorry. I'm not a normal human, so I don't know what it means to be jealous."
William said self-deprecatingly, as he reached out to take off his suit and took a look at his shirt sleeves. The cuff buckles were ripped apart, and his sleeves were opened wide, "I have a meeting later. Go buy me clothes."
"You should have a rest today."
Alice said with concern.
Don't be in such a hurry to get to the meeting.
"I'm in excellent health. Do you want to buy or not?" William took off the suit and threw it into her arms, "Do you know how much this suit costs? How much this shirt costs? If you can't buy back clothes of the same value, then just write me a promissory note."
Smart guy.
Even want her to write a promissory note. She had already spent quite a bit of money on him, including her parents' island.
Alice sniffed and said, "I'll sew it up for you."
William was about to walk over to the desk when he heard this and staggered. He looked at her in disbelief, "Sewing? You wanna sew my clothes? What do you think this is? Your family's tablecloth?"
Five minutes later.
William sat in front of the desk with one hand on it. Alice stood beside him. She bent her waist and held onto the sewing box that she borrowed from the secretary.
Needle threading.
William looked at her uncomfortably as Alice passed through the cuff buckle to sew it onto his sleeve. With a soft voice, she said, "Don't move, or I'll prick your hands."
In order to save money, she insisted on sewing the cuff buckle back for him. She should be grateful that he had recovered, otherwise he would definitely punch her.
William stared straight at her. She focused on stitching the cuff buckle up with needle and thread. Her body moved closer to him, and the tip of her long hair inadvertently brushing his face.
It was so close that he could clearly see the length of each of her eyelashes. As William sat there, his body unconsciously straightened, and his slender fingers moved.
"Don't move."
Alice said again as she pressed down on his hand.
William sat perfectly straight as his thin lip tightly pursed.
She gripped the cuff of his sleeve with one hand and sewed with the other. The soft touch challenged his senses and made his blood boil.
Alice stared intently at the cuff buckle, pierced the last needle. She cut it off with a small scissors, "You can move now. See, is it the same as the new one?”
She turned her face. Her nose hit his, and a flash of surprise passed through her eyes.
The two faces were almost touching.
Ambiguity lingered.
Alice stopped breathing and William stared straight at her. Suddenly, Alice felt her mouth become dry, and his lip opened slightly, almost about to kiss her lips.
Knock. Knock.
Alice was startled. William quickly sat straight up and pressed the button on the vibrator.
The office door opened automatically.
