Alice forgot that she stayed in the bathroom for a long time, until her fingers were already wrinkled from the water blistering. Then she came out of the bathroom, put on her pajamas, and shivered.
She looked at the door; William had not come back yet.
With the death of their father and the return of their son, their eldest son had returned. The three of them naturally had a lot to say, perhaps from when they were young all the way until they grew up.
Alice turned off the light and sat on the bed by herself, allowing the dark night to envelop her.
An hour, another hour.
Her heart felt particularly uncomfortable.
When William came back, Alice was already lying on the bed. She had her body curled up sideways under the blanket with her eyes tightly shut, she heard the sound of William taking off his shoes, and then he directly walked towards the bathroom and turned on a small light.
The room was lit up like dusk.
After a while, William came back, he gently lifted the blanket and laid down, bringing a chill with him.
Alice's eyes were tightly shut, and she could feel that William was looking at her from the back.
Even if he was angry at her, perhaps he would still be willing to confide some things to her. Thinking about it, Alice turned around to look at him, only to see that William had already fallen asleep.
He did not hug her. He just lay there with his eyes closed and his brows furrowed. His facial features were very deep, and a few shadows appeared under the light.
Alice stared at him blankly as she pursed her lips. In the end, she couldn't say anything.
He had experienced too much today. He needed to get a good night's sleep.
Alice thought to herself as she reached out to turn off the light, then lay down and slept beside William. In the darkness, William's ice-cold voice suddenly sounded out, "I hate what you have arranged!"
After he finished speaking, William turned around and fell asleep with his back facing
her.
As Alice laid there, her entire body seemed to have been ruthlessly cut by William.
That night, she no longer slept, not even for the rest of the night.
The next day, Alice very consciously woke up early. She didn't want William to wake up to see her, so he remembered everything that she had arranged.
She had walked out of her room long ago and walked downstairs step by step. Before she even reached the hall, she heard laughter from downstairs, and David said in a halfjoking tone, "How about this? Didn't they say that buttocks are easy to rear? "
"Child, where did you learn to speak such nonsense? Moreover, I'm going to reprimand you."Elizabeth said with a smile.
Alice walked downstairs. The sky was not bright yet, and the hall was lit up by a group of servants. David and Elizabeth sat together, eagerly discussing something.
"Mother, brother."
Alice walked over and lowered her head to them.
"Yes, sit down."
Elizabeth nodded her head, holding onto a stack of documents.
David was holding onto a stack of photos. Seeing Alice's smile, he said, "Alice, it's good that you came.
"Choose what?"
Alice sat down on the green sofa and asked in confusion.
"My Marriage Object, Mother and I screened these families last night for a long time and picked out the young ladies of these appropriate ages. You can help choose them." David said, and looked at Alice gently.
"Marriage?"
Hearing that, Alice's body trembled.
"That's right." David nodded.
"Isn't it inheriting the Cullen family, but why would they marry each other?"
Isn't it fine as long as you inherit the Cullen family?
Alice's face turned pale inch by inch. What marriage entailed was not talking about the degree to which one's feelings were compatible with each other, but a deal built up for the benefit of both parties.
David was going to get married?
"Yes, although we should not discuss the matter of marriage at this time, for the sake of Cullen family's future, it is necessary to choose a marriage and make contact with a strong family to consolidate before the matter of father is announced."
David's words were reasonable, and there was still a smile on his face, as though he was deeply involved in this matter.
Elizabeth sat there as she continued her discussion with David, talking about how the relationship between the two families looked like, the benefits and disadvantages of marriage, and even occasionally talking about the appearance of the female side.
Alice sat there and stared blankly at the two of them. David played along with Elizabeth and occasionally smiled, but after smiling, his lips slightly tilted downwards. He placed a hand on his lap and continued to stroke outwards, the tip of his feet pointing towards the door.
I don't know where I saw it, but this kind of microcosm shows that people are very resistant to talking or doing what they are doing, and just want to avoid it.
Alice's face was deathly pale as she sat stiffly on the sofa. Suddenly, as if she had sensed something, she raised her head and looked towards the stairs.
