After a long journey, Peter, Aurora, and Mary finally arrived in Galea. At the entrance, Agnes was waiting for them. The moment she saw Mary, she opened her arms wide and said: 

“Miss Angela! It’s so good to see you here again! Your room is ready, just as you left it.” 

“Thank you, Agnes! Are you ready to continue teaching me Italian cooking?”

“Of course, miss! The kitchen is yours whenever you like.” 

Aurora, seeing everything was settling in smoothly, said, “Well, well, we’ve made it to Galea. That means I should head back to my apartment. I haven’t been there in nearly a month–I need to show some sign of life. I’ll leave you two to get settled, Mary” 

“Aurora, I’ll ask the driver to take you home,” Peter offered. 

“Thank you, Mr. Palmer! Nothing less than I expected” Aurora replied with mock sarcasm. 

“Agnes, could you ask one of the staff to help with Mary’s luggage?” Peter requested. 

“Yes, sir. If there’s nothing else, I’ll go prepare dinner” Agnes replied as she headed off. 

“Peter, let’s go for a walk. I want to go down to the beach. Do you still have the stairs that lead to the shore?” Mary asked, a hint of nostalgia in her voice. 

“Of course! When I’m here, I go running along the beach in the mornings,” Peter said proudly. 

Can we go?” Mary’s eyes shimmered with emotion. “There’s something I need to tell you.” 

“Yes, let’s go.” 

The two carefully descended the stairs, Peter taking her hand to steady her. Once on the beach, they strolled along the shoreline. 

“I’ve missed this peace and quiet. The sound of the waves, the smell of the sea, the cries of the seagulls. It feels so calming,” Mary said softly. 

“Well, now that you’re here, you can enjoy it every day. We can come for walks as often as you like,” Peter said as he stepped in front of her, looking directly into her eyes. “Mary, I know I made mistakes five years ago. I was immature and reckless. But I want you to know you’ve always been in my heart, I’m going to fight to be in yours.”

“Peter, I… I don’t know what to say. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. I never should have left. I was too quick to believe Maximus’s lies.” 

“I want to pick up the pieces of you and put them back together, little by little. I want you to trust me. We have nothing to return to in Valeria. We can stay here or go anywhere you want. I want to build a family with you, Mary.” 

“Peter… That’s what I wanted to talk to you about,” Mary said, stopping in her tracks. 

“What is it, Mary?” Peter asked, concern etched across his face.
