Chapter 0127
The next morning, Mary woke up and glanced at her phone–it was 10:00 am. Peter was already up, working on his laptop. She watched him intently, her cheeks flushing as she admired him. He was wearing his frameless glasses, which gave him an effortlessly handsome look.
Peter felt her gaze and turned to her with a wide smile
“Good morning, beautiful! How are you two feeling?” be asked, closing his laptop and setting it on the nightstand.
“Good, very good! And with this view, even better,” Mary said playfully.
Peter leaned in to give her a good morning kiss and pulled her onto his lap. Her body was still completely bare beneath the covers.
“Do you know how much I love seeing you like this?” Peter said as he began trailing kisses from her lips to her shoulder. “I love how your skin reacts to my touch.”
“Peter, we need to get up! What will Grandma and Grandpa think?” Mary said, trying to resist his teasing.
“You’re right,” Peter said with a laugh. “We have to make a good impression, or Grandpa Albert might think I’m corrupting you.”
“Come on, let’s shower and have breakfast. Trust me, we’re very hungry!” Mary said, gently nudging
him.
Peter gave her a passionate kiss and placed a hand on her belly.
“Alright, let’s go. We need to feed this little one properly,” he said warmly.
A few minutes later, the pair emerged from their room. Peter walked behind Mary, his arms wrapped around her. It had become a habit–her petite 5’2” frame fit perfectly against his tall 5’11” stature, and he loved how effortlessly he could lift her.
As they made their way toward the garden, they suddenly ran into someone they least expected: Maximus. He was just entering from the garden, on his way to pick up Alexia from the airport.
The smile on Mary’s face vanished as she locked eyes with her ex–husband, but she composed herself quickly. Peter, on the other hand, tightened his hold on her, making it clear where his loyalties lay. The tension in the air was palpable.
“Brother. Mary,” Maximus said, tilting his head slightly, his tone unreadable.
“Maximus,” Peter responded curtly, his voice cold.
The couple walked past him, heading straight for the garden. Maximus watched them, noticing how The couple walked past him, heading stra Peter held Mary protectively in his arms. It was then that he realized the noises he had heard the night before had come from his brother’s room–and that Mary had been with him. The revelation struck him like a blow.
