Chapter 0185
Chapter 0185
“Come on, Mary. Keep talking! Are you out of arguments now?”
“I want you out of here! Get out of my house!” Mary shouted.
“This house belongs to Peter Palmer. In other words, it’s the Palmer family’s property. It’s not yours. Unlike you,
I’m actually about to marry Maximus, and you? Well, you’re not even a widow. Now that I think about it… you’re no one. You never were, and you never will be!
“You know, it’d be a real shame if something happened to your baby. It’d be very convenient for the division of the inheritance. Imagine this: if your baby doesn’t make it into this world, the entire Palmer fortune will belong to my children and me. Keep that in mind. Let me remind you of something you told me years ago right now, you’re talking to Alexia Levett, but in a week, you’ll be speaking to Alexia Palmer. Don’t you dare forget it.”
“You’re insane! You can’t do anything to me, especially not in your condition!”
“Me? Of course not. But my grandfather can. He has enough power in Valentia to make anyone disappear, and no one could blame him. He’s seen as an exemplary citizen. So let me be clear, Mary- you have until dawn tomorrow to get out of Italy. Never come back. Go wherever you want, but don’t take anything that belongs to the Palmer family, because I’ll find out.
I’m doing you a favor as a woman. Someday, I’ll be a mother too, and I wouldn’t want anyone wishing harm on me or my child. So remember–by tomorrow morning, you and your bastard need to * gone from Italy.
Oh, and one last thing. This is just what I think. I can’t speak for my grandfather. If he decides you’re a nuisance… well, that’s his decision. If I were you, I’d leave here very, very carefully.”
With that, Alexia calmly walked out of the main bedroom, leaving Mary paralyzed with fear.
Frederick had gone out to meet with a politician and friend who could help with the situation. While the fight unfolded inside, he wasn’t there. Matthew, who had arrived with Catherine, ended up separating the two men. Both looked badly beaten. Leonardo, though he tried, clearly couldn’t control either of them. Meanwhile, Frank stood back, relishing Catherine’s distress over the brawl.
Marcus, reverting to his cold demeanor, declared, “Catherine, I never imagined you’d betray my family like this. Aligning yourself with the Levetts just to uphold your family traditions? That’s sinking to a new low. Now, everyone who doesn’t belong in this house, I’m asking you nicely: Get off my property!
Frederick was walking back in with good news when Marcus’s shout startled him.
“Mr. Bartz, what’s going on? What happened to your face?”
“Nothing, Frederick. Just settling a score,” Marcus sal, glaring at Maximus.
Maximus, equally battered, couldn’t believe how the man he’d thought was broken had managed to fight back so fiercely. If Matthew hadn’t intervened, Maximus would’ve ended up far worse off than his opponent.
