Chapter 0210
Marcus carried the briefcase with the contract in one hand and held Valerie’s small hand in the other. Her cheeks were more flushed than usual. Marcus had to admit he felt a little dizzy from the drinks he’d had, but even so, he couldn’t bring himself to send Valerie home in a taxi in her condition. He’d have to drive her himself.
When they reached the hotel room Marcus had reserved, Valerie felt a strange knot in her stomach. The setting seemed… suggestive. She turned to Marcus and said:
“Do you mind if I wait in the hallway?”
“Valerie, how could I leave you out here? Come in. Leaving you outside is no better than leaving you back at the bar. Besides, I think you need some coffee.”
Embarrassed but unable to argue, Valerie stepped into the room and sat in one of the armchairs in the small sitting area. Marcus went to the bedroom to find the safe, then headed to the coffee bar. He made two espressos and handed one to Valerie. She cradled the warm cup in her hands but didn’t say anything.
“Valerie, have you thought about what I said?”
Her heart raced under Marcus’s intense gaze.
“L… 1 think we could go with you. Serenity needs to get out a little…” Valerie replied, walking toward the window.
The view was stunning. At night, the city lights shone with breathtaking brilliance. Marcus followed her. Maybe it was the alcohol loosening him up, but his mind swirled with thoughts about the woman standing in front of him.
Taking a deep breath, Marcus stood beside her, finishing the last sip of his coffee and setting the cup on a nearby table.
“It’s an incredible view, isn’t it?”
“Yes, it’s amazing!” Valerie said without turning to look at him.
“Valerie… what would you think if I…?” Marcus said, moving closer and looking straight at her.
She felt his gaze and turned around–just in time for Marcus to press a kiss to her lips. Maybe it was the wine, the atmosphere, or the scent of his cologne, but Valerie didn’t resist. She let herself go, responding instinctively to
the kiss
For the first time, Marcus felt the warmth of her lips–the lips that had been tormenting his thoughts for so long. His hands slid down her back, pulling her into a firm embrace. Valerie placed her hands around his neck, and before she knew it, Marcus lifted her, her legs wrapping around his waist. He carried her to the sofa in the sitting area, their kiss unbroken. Their breathing grew ragged as Valerie let her hands travel from his neck to his face, cupping it tenderly.
When their lips finally parted, their pupils were dilated, heavy with desire. Marcus tried to restrain himself, not wanting to ruin the moment. But when Valerie pulled him into another kiss and started removing his jacket, it was clear she wanted the same thing. They’d both been drinking, but it wasn’t enough to cloud their judgment or make it seem like either was taking advantage.
“Valerie… I…” Marcus began, only for her to silence him with a finger to his lips.
He lifted her into his arms and kissed her again. Valerie’s fingers moved to unbutton his shirt, revealing his toned chest and long neck, which she couldn’t resist kissing. Marcus lost control at her touch, quickly undoing her blouse and skirt. He let her hair loose, wanting to see it cascade down. Piece by piece, their clothes fell to the floor.
Marcus carried Valerie’s half–naked body to the bedroom and gently laid her on the bed. There, he took a moment
