My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus) novel Chapter 241

Chapter 0241

Alexia, hearing the shouting from the study, smiled to herself. She knew her son was standing up for what he believed was his by right. Maximus was likely fuming over his son’s presence, but there was nothing he could do to stop him

“Father! I’m just saying what I see. Bartz returns, and you open the doors like he owns the place!Lucius yelled, his eyes as cold as Maximus’s when dealing with rivals

He does own it! Hasn’t your mother or grandfather told you that?Maximus shouted even louder

What the hell are you talking about?Lucius yelled, stunned

Maximus took a deep breath, stood, and lit a cigar from his desk before turning to face his son

Your greatgrandfather Frank Levett embezzled from the company. He ran off to God knows where, leaving the business bankrupt. Bartz injected cash into it before I declared it insolvent. Legitimately, he’s the company’s owner. He holds 37% of the shares and invested millions in Palmer Group.”

I’m sorry, son. You’re not inheriting a kingdom. I never had one, and your mother has known that since we were dating. But she insists it should all be mine. When Peter died, there was no one to inherit his share. But your uncle had a beautiful daughter. She, her mother, and Bartz are back, and I can’t deny them what’s rightfully theirs. And then, there’s Mary Preston.”

Oh, right, your whore!Lucius spat maliciously

Lucius! How brainwashed you are by your mother! She’s filled your head with garbage. Mary was my first wife. She owns 33% of the company. Your greatgrandmother Catherine couldn’t transfer it, but her will clearly stated that I was to protect her estate until she returned to claim it. Catherine knew Mary would return, and she wasn’t wrong.”

Damn Catherine! Even dead, she managed to screw us!Lucius shouted, enraged

Maximus nearly lost control and lunged at Lucius but managed to calm himself with a deep breath

Lucius, it’s not your fault you think this way. It’s my fault for leaving you too long under your mother’s and great -grandfather’s influence. You believe you deserve everything. But let me tell you somethingyou don’t. My will has a clause stating that unless you show proper respect for my decisions, you won’t get a thing. In fact, everything I own will go to charity. Neither you nor your siblings will inherit anything. Got it?”

Maximus now fully understood why his father had made the choices he had with him and Peter when they were young. Maximus had been sharp and businesssavvy, while Peter had been carefree and relaxed. Their father had recognized their strengths and given them responsibilities accordingly. Now, as a father himself, Maximus didn’t know what to do. His father wasn’t around to advise him, and though Matthew could serve as a mentor, Maximus couldn’t bring himself to ask for help. It just wasn’t in his nature
