Chapter 0032
“Mary, darling! Come down, we need to leave,” Catherine called out sternly.
“I’m here, Grandma,” Mary replied, her voice tinged with sadness.
“Good! Let’s go.”
“Thank you for everything, Emma,” Mary said, extending her hand to the housekeeper.
“It was my pleasure, Miss. I enjoyed having a young lady in this house. Take care, and remember, we’re here to help if you ever need us.”
“Thanks, Emma,” Mary said, throwing her arms around her.
Emma’s heart sank, but she knew it was for the best. If Alexia Levett was back, both Mrs. Catherine and Mary had already lost the battle before it even began.
ver. She Catherine walked out of the mansion with her head held high, looking more imposing than suspected that Maximus might show up at any moment, but the decision had already been made. Mary, on the other hand, left with a broken heart, regretting that she had used her birthday wish on something as trivial as falling in love.
“Emma, I’m leaving Mary with Peter. If Maximus arrives, tell him to wait. I need to have a serious talk with him. But first, I need to get this girl to safety.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“And Emma, make sure you prepare some calming tea I’m going to need it.”
“Understood.”
Maximus entered the estate just as his grandmother’s car was leaving through an alternate exit. Catherine had anticipated this and wanted to avoid a scene in front of Mary. She had arranged for Peter to meet them in a park inside the residential complex where his brother lived.
When they reached the meeting point, Mary spotted a sleek black Lamborghini. The car was elegant, and from it emerged a tall, handsome man who bore a strong resemblance to Maximus, but with a friendlier face and a contagious smile that Mary couldn’t help but return.
“Peter, darling! It’s so good to see you after all this time!” Catherine exclaimed, planting a kiss on his cheek and pulling him into a tight hug.
This was a scene Mary had never seen between Catherine and Maximus. Maybe it was Maximus’s serious nature that kept Catherine from being as affectionate with him as she was with Peter.
“Grandma! Woah woah! What will your little girl think?” Peter teased.
“Oh, forgive me, my boy! I haven’t even introduced you two. How rude of me! Mary, come here. This is Peter Palmer, my youngest grandson–though he’s not so young anymore! He’s a handsome
businessman. From now on, you’ll be living with Peter”
“Nice to meet you, Peter!” Mary said, extending her hand.

Without hesitation, Peter pulled her Into a hug, saying “Come here, Mary! We’re family, no need to be so formal with me. Poor thing, I can’t imagine what you’ve been through living with my brother. That tyrant can’t take care of a plant without killing it! Well unless he has Emma handle It–she’s a queen!”
As Peter hugged her, Mary’s cheeks flushed as she caught a whiff of his scent–fresh and citrusy, quite different from Maximus’s. While both then had a hint of citrus in their colognes, Maximus’s scent was stronger, more commanding. Peter’s, on the other hand, was youthful, like his personality.
“Peter, you’re squeezing her too tightly! Let her go!” Catherine scolded, embarrassed by her grandson’s
behavior.
“Oh, you’re right!” Peter said, releasing her and noticing her flushed cheeks. “Sorry, didn’t realize my strength!”
