Now it was just missing that this woman tried to threaten im with her disappearance. 

“Sir, let me check. She hasn’t left her roomt yet, but I’ll go see. Maybe she’s overslept.” 

While Maximus waited for confirmation that his wife was at home, he glanced at the long list of missed calls from Alexia’s parents. For a moment, he hesitated, but he decided to call her father, who was the most reasonable among the Levetts. 

“Levett, do you know where your daughter is? Why the hell are people calling me, saying she’s in the hospital?” 

“Maximus, I thought you weren’t in the country! My Alexia had a terrible accident. Come to the hospital immediately; she’s in critical condition, and her prognosis is uncertain.” 

“Levett, I’m not in the mood for your daughter’s stupid games right now. We’re in the middle of a divorce, and this sounds like another one of her usual excuses.” 

“No, Maximus, please! Come–they need her husband, meaning you. Someone has to sign the paperwork for the procedures. She’s been placed in an induced coma; her injuries are very severe.” 

Maximus paid little attention to Frank Jr. Levett’s pleas. His priority was finding Serenity. They had agreed to meet at the café, but when she didn’t show up, he went to where she usually parked her car. He found the car door slightly ajar. 

“Where are we going? You’re getting farther and farther from the city.” 

“Relax! We’re family! I would never hurt you.” 

“Oh, really? Then what was yesterday all about?” 

“You’re so sensitive. This family is intense. I just don’t want our company to fall into the wrong hands. You’re a Palmer–your blood carries the name Palmer. You can’t deny it. You’re as beautiful as Grandma was in her prime 

“Honestly, I don’t understand. What do you want from me? 

Serenity knew she had a security team watching over her at all times. What she didn’t know was that Lucius had been following her for days. When he saw her with Maximis, he figured out how to eliminate her security detail For now, she was entirely at his mercy. 

“Truthfully, I planned to be more subtle–invite you for coffee and chat. But Leonardo is meticulous when it comes to business. He doesn’t like things to be that simple. 

“Why are you so calm about what happened yesterday? A lot of people got hurt–my mother included.” 

“Oh, is that true? Your mother is stunning! If I were a bit older-or she a bit younger–maybe I’d try to win her over. But alas, she’s Marcus Bartz’s wife, and for now, even looking her way would be dangerous. 

“How do you know my father?” 

“He’s not your damn father! Your father is Maximus Palmer, and if you want to keep things calm on this trip, you’d better not mention that bastard again. I’ve got plenty of unfinished business with him.” 

“My father is Marcus, and I don’t care if it bothers you. I don’t even know who the hell you are, so you’d better let me go, or else-
