Chapter 0035
Peter sped down the road in his luxurious Lamborghin, sensing the anxious glance from his passenger. Mary was visibly nervous about the speed at which they were traveling. As they continued along the coastal highway, she caught sight of the distant sea, with golden sands and deep blue water coming into
view.
“Where are we?” she asked.
“We’re almost home. This is Galea,” Peter replied in perfect Hesperian.
“You speak my language?”
“Of course!”
“Do you speak other languages?”
“Yep! I love learning languages.”
“Wow!”
“So, where are you from, Mary? Though I have a good dea, I’d rather hear it from you–and don’t lie.”
“I’m from Hesperia!”
“I knew it! Your name is pretty typical in your country.

“My grandmother loved it, so that’s why I’m named Mary.‘
“Most grandmothers and mothers love that name. If it’s not Maria, it’s Mary. Tell me I’m wrong.”
“You’re not! Lots of women back home are named that. Actually, my full name is Maria Mary Preston.”
“Wow, Maria Mary! What a name!”
“Why is that surprising?”
“It’s just very distinct.”
“I suppose it is.”
“What languages do you speak?” she asked.
“Well, as you’ve heard, I speak Hesperian. And Valentian, obviously. Franconian and Candlish because I travel for work. Rivense was easy to pick up. Slavnik, since my family has business connections there. And a bit of Mandarese, though I’m still working on that one.”
“You’re full of surprises!”
“I like meeting people–especially women Knowing different languages helps with that.”
“So you learn languages just to talk to women?”
“Not gonna lie, it helps. I’m not the best guy out there, but when I meet the right woman, I know I’ll change my ways. But I haven’t met her yet.” He said this with a mix of sincerity and playful bravado.

Chapter 0035
“Wow, you’re nothing like Maximus.”
“Of course! Did you really expect me to be?”
“Well, no… By the way, are you hungry? I am. I was about to have brunch when I picked you up, but I canceled it to be on time. Want to grab something to ea and eat in the car?”
“What about the car? Won’t it get dirty?”
“You’ve been living with Maximus, haven’t you? Don’t worry, If something spills, we’ll clean it or take the car to get detailed.”
“Okay, I could eat something.”
“Do you like pizza?”
“I love it!”
“Great! We’re about to stop by a friend’s place. He makes the best pizza. We can park there and grab something to eat.” Peter rubbed his stomach, and at that moment, his stomach growled.
Mary couldn’t help but smile at the sound.
“Hey, don’t laugh! This is your fault for keeping me from eating.
“It’s not my fault!” she said, still smiling.
“See? You’re much prettier when you smile.”
“That was just funny!”
“Well, I’ll have my revenge when the time comes!”
“No, no, I don’t want to laugh at you.
“Too late! Look at you, your face is turning red.”
“You really scared me!”
“I guess I made the same face as Maximus–seems that’s what scares people.”
“He’s not as bad as he seems. He was good to me, just very serious and reserved.”
