Marcus sat in the back seat of the SUV with Serenity beside him. After everything that had happened, she finally felt safe in her father’s presence and drifted into a deep sleep. 

“My girl, I don’t know exactly what happened, but I’ll find out. Believe me, Leonardo and Lucius will regret Laying a finger on you. I’ve been far too lenient with this fareily, but now that they’ve crossed the line with you, I’ll hit them where it hurts the most.” 

“What do you want us to do with them?” 

“Freeze their accounts. I’m sure the moment you do, those wo vultures will crawl out of whatever hole they’re hiding in,” Marcus said, his voice filled with rage, leaving no doubt that he intended to make them suffer. 

Lucius surprises me. After what you did to him in New York, I thought he’d be too afraid to mess with you, Frederick said calmly. 

“He was. But I’m sure that so–called father of his has brainwashed him. That little brat is just learning to walk, yet he already wants to conquer the world. I used to think he was the next Peter Palmer.” 

“Speaking of surprises, what do you think about Peter’s unknown son?” Frederick asked, intrigued. 

“Investigate him! I don’t like that he’s the one who helped Serenity, nor that he’s been hiding in the shadows for so long.” Marcus said, deep in thought. 

“Did you get a good look at him? 1 only saw him from a distance, but it was like seeing Peter…” Frederick said, a touch of nostalgia in his voice. 

“Since when are you so sentimental?” Marcus said, teasing him. 

“Peter was a good man–how could I not miss him? Have you considered that this might be a good thing? He could take charge of the company that represents the three families. Don’t lie, Marcus–you don’t want to destroy Palmer Group. You want to save it. If you wanted to destroy it, you wouldn’t be going to such lengths.” 

“Frederick, I already told you–investigate the young man want to know everything about him: who his mother is, who he is, and why he’s suddenly appeared in our lives. 

“By the way… have you contacted Valerie yet?” 

Marcus sighed. “I’m giving her space. I know I made a huge mistake, but I know my wife. If l–approach her now, things will only get worse.” 

“Will you tell her about this?” 

“We won’t be able to hide it, but now isn’t the right time. I know how she’ll react, and I’m worried she might do something drastic. What matters now is that Serenity is safe. Have you located her bodyguards?” 

“Yes, Marcus. They were executed–shot point–blank. That’s why I’m intrigued by this young man claiming to be Peter’s son. Serenity said he helped her. If our men were taken out so easily, how was be able to rescue her? There are only two possibilities; either he’s working with Leonardo, or he’s far more capable than he appears.” 

“Investigate him, and we’ll find out. In the meantime, don’t tell Serenity anything 

Meanwhile, Alden and Ignatius were driving home. 

“What did you think of your uncle?” Ignatius asked curiously.

“And Marcus Bartz?”
