“Alden, I know you’re caught up in the buzz around here, but I don’t want you to join the force. You’ve got a g and you should make the most of it. I’d rather see you get into business. Your mom has been working at the factory for years, and while she’s still young, she won’t be forever,” said Ignatius, his tone firm but caring 

“Nat, 1 like what you do. Besides, if I join the force, maybe one day I’ll move up the ranks and finally figure out what happened to my father,” Alden replied, his eyes filled with conviction. 

Alden had always known who his father was. He had photos of him with his mother, but one question remained unanswered: Why had he died? Who would have wanted him dead? They were questions his mother couldn’t answer. After leaving Russia, she had moved to Argentina. Following a brief stay at the beaches of Mar del Plen she chose to settle in the most remote place she could find. Perhaps she thought she adapted better to the colder climate. Ushuaia, considered the southernmost city in the world, became the place Alden called home 

It was there that he met Grace Martin, a young girl just two years younger than him. Alden fell head over heats for Grace, and after nearly two years of dating, their relationship grew more serious. “Yes, Darius. I know I haven’t reached out in a long time, but this time, I really need your help,” Katherine sand with a heavy heart. 

“What do you need? You know you can ask me for anything, Darius replied confidently. 

“My son is of legal age here in Argentina. He just told me he’s going to be a father. You know what that means- he’s still so young, and I don’t have enough resources to support him properly. I have no choice but to accept the help you used to offer me years ago. I don’t want his career to end before it starts. I’m not asking for much, just a little help, Darius,” she said, her nerves showing. 

Darius Richards was the legal executor of Peter’s fortune. Even after Peter’s death, Marcus Bartz had asked him with safeguarding the funds. If Peter’s daughter ever came forward, the money would be turned over to her when she came of age—or sooner in an extreme emergency. With that responsibility in mind, Darius didn’t hesitate to offer assistance. 

“Katherine, I don’t have a problem helping you. But I need to meet you in person. I’d like to meet Alden as well”
