After a long week, Katherine received a message from Darius Richards. He would be waiting for her at Ana & Juana – Onas at 6:00 PM, a public venue designed to ease any fears she might have about meeting him. Though Darius didn’t fully understand her apprehensions, he knew this would be his first time seeing Alden as an adult. The last time he had seen him, Alden was a small child with dark, wavy brown hair and charming gray eyes. 

As promised, Darius arrived five minutes early. He ordered a coffee, and just as it was served, he saw a striking redhead walk through the door. She was no longer the young woman he remembered, but she was still stunning. Beside her stood a tall, handsome young man. From afar, Darius felt a pang in his chest–the young man was the spitting image of his former boss. The only difference was Alden’s porcelain complexion and striking gray eyes. 

“Darius Richards!” the man greeted, standing up and waving at the woman in front of him. 

“Hello, Darius! This is my son, Alden,” Katherine said, gesturing toward her handsome son. 

“Nice to meet you, Alden! I know you don’t remember mewe met when you were just a child. Now look at you, a young man. You’re the very image of your father,” Darius said with a warm smile. 

“Thank you, sir. That’s what my mother always says,” Alden replied politely. 

“Darius, about what I mentioned on the phone–is it possible?” Katherine asked nervously. 

“Katherine, I told you years ago: there’s no reason for you and your son to live with so little when Peter had enough to care for you both. Leonardo, his father, absorbed several of his properties and manages a portion of the company’s shares, but that wasn’t Peter’s only income.” Darius reached into his briefcase, pulling out several documents. 

“I don’t want Peter’s family disrupting our peace. You know he didn’t get along with his older brother. Can you imagine the chaos if they find out the eldest son isn’t his?” Katherine said anxiously. 

“Relax, Katherine. They don’t need to know about your son’s existence. What I’m handing over comes from a business Peter kept off the books. Did you know he was a broker?” Darius asked. 

“No, I didn’t!” 

“Well, now you do. I’ve been managing his earnings. Marcus Bartz instructed me to close it down, and I was going to, but when I first saw you in Argentina, I knew the child you were carrying was Peter’s, even though you didn’t tell me. I’m the one who took you to your hotel that night–you probably don’t remember.” 

“You’re right; I don’t remember,” Katherine admitted. 

Alden listened intently to the conversation, hearing things his mother had never told him. He had always been curious about the relationship between his parents. Though she shared the basics, many things never quite added up. 

“Alden Pietrovich Palmer, all you need to do is sign these documents, and I’ll transfer the resources you need. I wish I could give you more, but most of it is frozen, and the rest is with your grandfather, Leonardo. I also have something else for you–a tool of sorts. Look it over, and if you have any questions, here’s my card,” Darius said, sliding a sleek business card across the table. 

“Thank you, Darius,” Katherine said quickly, relieved. 

Alden was stunned as he glanced at the documents. The numbers on the page were staggering. Then Darius handed him a briefcase, which caught Alden’s attention even more. 

“Your father was a broker. He loved money and was excellent at what he did, which is how he built the fortune I’m now handing over. To be honest, this is just a small piece of it. The rest is either frozen or controlled by your

grandfather. This, however, is yours–use it wisely.” 

As the conversation continued, Theodore listened from a distance, taking in every word. The resemblance between Alden and Peter was uncanny–it was like looking into the past. Seeing the boy felt like a time warp. He now understood why his boss had been so eager to find him. The woman accompanying Alden was undoubtedly beautiful. Theodore finally grasped why Peter had been so deeply in love with her; he had spoken about her for years, and now here she was, standing before him. 

After delivering the money and briefcase, Darius left the café feeling as though a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. At last, he felt he had done some justice for one of Peter’s sons. With that, he returned to Valentía. 

Theodore, however, didn’t leave. He decided to stay in Ushuaia for a full week, gathering as much information as he could about the family. Everything he learned, he reported to the man waiting thousands of kilometers away. 

“The resemblance is unbelievable,” the voice on the other end of the line said, examining the photos Theodore had sent. 

“It really is. You’ve surprised me–there’s no doubt he’s a Palmer. What do you plan to do?” Theodore asked, hesitation in his voice. 

“Make sure you approach him, but don’t let his mother find out,” said the voice on the other end of the line. ” Show him a picture of me and tell him I want to talk to him. I’ll arrive tomorrow afternoon.” 

“Perfect. What time do you get here? I can pick you up,” Theodore replied, clearly uneasy. 

“See you at the pier at 7:00 PM, buddy. I can take care of myself, remember? I’m a big boy!” 

The next day, Theodore went to the school where Alden studied. He had to wait several minutes before he could see him. When Alden finally appeared, Theodore walked over and looked directly at him. It was as if the boy already knew this man had something important to say. Those gray eyes scrutinized him, searching for something. For what? Theodore couldn’t quite tell, but one thing was clear: the boy knew his presence wasn’t a coincidence.
