After Alden and Grace’s divorce, Grace decided to move to Spain. She had considered returning to Argentina, but her strained relationship with her parents made that impossible. Meanwhile, both Alden and Grace continued to receive unconditional support from Peter, who held Grace in high regard. Their son, little Ethan, spent most of his time with his grandfather. Peter, who had become deeply attached to his grandson since his birth, treated him as if he were his own child while Alden and Grace focused on their professional lives.
Following the divorce, Ethan’s schedule was carefully divided: two weeks with Peter, one with Grace, and one with Alden. It was a complicated arrangement, but it worked, especially since Ethan had grown particularly close to his grandfather.
Alden remained attentive to his mother’s needs. After consulting several specialists, he decided to travel to Milan, where he had heard about a doctor who could potentially treat spinal and vertebral column conditions. It seemed like the best chance for his mother’s recovery.
Years later, Alden convinced Peter to reveal the truth to Darius Richards. For Alden, it was becoming increasingly difficult to navigate the web of who could know about his father’s existence and who couldn’t. He feared that one day he might slip up and cause irreparable damage. Darius, who had always kept an eye on Alden, was an inevitable confidant.
When Darius learned the truth, he nearly fainted–not from fear, but from joy. Despite the strangeness of the situation, the lawyer had always admired his former boss, and seeing Peter alive felt like a miracle. That day, they spent hours talking. Darius shared everything he knew about Peter’s life before the accident, filling in gaps and recounting memorable moments they had shared.
Alden was amazed at how meticulous his father had been with finances. It was clear to him now why Peter had been so successful, and he began to admire this solitary and sometimes stern man. Darius, however, insisted that they must keep Peter’s existence a secret–even from Katherine. One slip, and the consequences could spiral out of control.
Thi fragile calm shattered when Alden brought his mother to Valentia. In Argentina, Katherine had few friends, but in Valentia, she was well–connected with many influential people. By sheer coincidence, during one of her outings, she ran into Fabian Zander, a man meticulous in his work and now a private investigator. Katherine and Fabian had been romantically involved in the past, so their reunion led to a long conversation. Fabian was shocked to see her in a wheelchair, but she brushed off, choosing instead to confide in him about her son and the identity of his father.
Fabian bit his tongue at her revelation but couldn’t resist mentioning an investigation he had once conducted for the powerful Maximus Palmer. He hinted that the findings might interest her. Katherine, intrigued, agreed to see the report but asked for Alden to be present as well, as he happened to be in Valentia that week.
Alden and Katherine visited Fabian’s home. Katherine omitted any mention of her past romance with Fabian, simply telling Alden that he was an old friend who had something important to show them. She had no idea Peter was alive, but deep down, she had always suspected his death wasn’t an accident. Peter had never gotten along with his brother, and she believed it was all orchestrated by Maximus Palmer. She didn’t know why but assumed it had something to do with his ex–wife.
Katherine’s instincts were right. She had always believed Peter’s death couldn’t have been random. Reading Fabian’s detailed report confirmed her suspicions: it hadn’t been an accident. However, the person who had
