It had been at least two months since Maximus had resigned as CEO of Palmer Group. Marcus had to take over the reins, and in the end, the revenge he had planned had taken a complete turn. The only condition Maximus had left was that the shares belonging to Alden be transferred to him. After seeing the DNA test, he raised no objections. 

Alden joined the company’s ranks. He was young and astute and many of his analyses matched Matthew’s predictions. There was no doubt that the Palmer gene still remained in this place. On several occasions, Marcus found himself outpaced by the young man’s ideas, which gradually began to capture his attention.

On Maximus’s side, after some time away with his children he had already moved at least the most important things for them. From now on, they would live in what was once his parents‘ mansion that old mansion that had been left in total neglect, but now it was filled with life As the newly reunited family took a well–deserved vacation, a team of workers set to work to restore it to its former glory. 

When they returned, on the first day of school, Maximus accompanied his three children to the Clearmount Eterna school. They had to adapt, and at least Paul and Maurice were nervous. As for Laura, she was excited. They had enjoyed good times during their vacation, and the little family, now reunited, was in high spirits. Their new home had turned out beautifully, the neglected garden now looked brand new. 

Seeing Laura excited about the garden, Maximus knew it should belong to her, so he made the decision to gift it to her. 

“Laura, I see you like the garden. It once belonged to someone who took great care of it. I’d like you to take care of it. I know you’ll do well, and this place needs a woman’s touch.” 

“It’s beautiful, Dad! I’ll take great care of it.” 

“Where are your brothers? It’s time to go to school. Laura, let’s go inside and put some pressure on them, or they won’t be leaving.” 

“They’re probably already ready, but they’re watching TV 

Indeed, both brothers were in the kitchen, having breakfast and leisurely watching cartoons. For the first time, Maximus saw how difficult it was to deal with a 15–year–old and an 8–year–old, but he didn’t mind. If he could run a company, he could handle this, and his children were simply testing his character. 

“Ready or not, I’m leaving in five minutes with whoever’s in the car. If anyone’s missing, believe me, the punishment will be exemplary.” 

Something in the look on their father’s face made the two youngsters immediately jump up, grab their bags, and get into the car. 

Maximus drove at full speed to make it to the school on time. He dropped the kids off at the gate and was walking back to his car when, suddenly, he saw a familiar silhouette in the distance. A mañ, parked several cars ahead of Maximus’s car, was diligently helping his child out of his seat. But this wasn’t just any man–he looked very much like… Maximus walked with long strides, and withour thinking for a moment, he said: 

“Peter… Is that you?” Maximus asked, approaching slowly and holding the other man’s car door. 

Peter looked up. The kind smile on his face faded. He took the hand of the little boy he was taking to school and said: 

“Give me five minutes… I’ll drop my son off at the entrance” 

“Grandpa, who is this man?” Ethan asked, looking confuse. 

“This man is your great–uncle, Ethan, so greet him properly.”
