Chapter 0435
It was Friday morning, and Peter was hurriedly driving Elin to school. The morning had been rough–his friend John still hadn’t returned to class after his Injury, and Ethan had woken up in a bad mood, refusing to go to school The boy tried throwing a tantrum, but Peter quickly shut it down and ultimately forced him to get ready and head
out the door.
“Ethan, I hope this is the last time we’re this late for school,” Peter said sternly, glancing at his grandson in the rearview mirror.
The boy sat with his arms crossed and a deep frown on his face, frustration written all over him.
“I don’t want to go to school! It’s Friday!” Ethan snapped.
“Ethan, it’s not up to you. You’re going to school, and that’s final.”
What Ethan didn’t want to admit to his grandfather was that he’d spent the previous night chatting with John on his tablet and had completely forgotten about his art class assignment. Innocently, he believed that skipping school would magically erase the problem.

When he woke up that morning excited for Friday, the memory of Miss Celeste’s assignment hit him like bricks. A wave of panic washed over him, but it was already too late to complete the work. So, he tried everything
faking a stomachache, a headache, and various other ailments that, to Peter’s seasoned eyes, were clearly just
excuses.
In Ethan’s head, skipping school seemed like the logical solution. Missing one class with Miss Celeste felt preferable to facing the embarrassment of admitting he hadn’t done his homework.
“We’re here!” Peter announced, parking the car and hurrying to unbuckle Ethan from his booster seat.
Ethan trudged toward the school entrance with his head down. Peter had briefly considered letting him skip school because of the lateness, but his grandson’s immature behavior had irritated him. Peter knew exactly what was bothering Ethan but wanted him to take responsibility for his actions instead of running away from them.
When they arrived an hour and a half late, the teachers who normally greeted the students were already gone. Peter hadn’t expected to run into Miss Celeste herself.
“Hello, Ethan! How are you?” Miss Celeste greeted him wannly.
“Miss…” Ethan replied, his voice barely above a whisper, his face red with embarrassment.
“Good morning, Mr. Pietrovich!” Miss Celeste said politely, turning her attention to Peter.
“Good morning, Miss… I apologize for the time. It hasn’t been an easy morning for Ethan,” Peter said, his tone calm but firm as he studied the woman in front of him.
“No need to worry. Kids are like that. What matters is that he’s here now, Honestly, if I were a kid, I wouldn’t want to come to school on a Friday either,” Miss Celeste said with a playful wink at Ethan.
Peter didn’t miss the gesture and asked, “You know my grandson?”
“Of course! Forgive my lack of introduction–I’m Celeste Johnson, Ethan’s art teacher. Isn’t that right, Ethan?”
“Yes!” Ethan replied, lifting his head slightly, his cheeks still flushed.
“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you!” Peter responded, his gaze fixed on the interaction between the two.
“Well, Mr. Paliner, we’d better get going. This little one has a class to attend.”

Chapter 0435
“Of course. Ethan, I’ll see you after school.”
Peter watched as Miss Johnson took Ethan’s hand. At first, he walked with his head down, but then she knelt down to say something to him. Whatever it was, it seemed to work, as Ethan began skipping along happily, just like his usual self. Peter stood there, observing the scene. It wasn’t that Ethan missed his mother–he talked to her almost daily–but there was something about this woman that clearly lifted his spirits.
