Serenity remained silent after hearing Peter’s last words. She settled into his embrace, a dream she had always held in her heart, imagining what it would have been like if her father had lived. Now that he was there, the hug felt wonderful. Life was giving her a chance, but that opportunity came with the weight of lying to her mother. Was she willing to do that? She didn’t know yet! But in that moment, all that mattered was what she felt. 

“Serenity, promise me you won’t talk about this with your mother.” Peter said, his voice tinged with worry. 

“Will you ever tell her?” Serenity asked, leaking up at the man holding her. 

“Tell her what?” Peter responded, knowing what the answer would be. 

“Will you talk to my mom?” Serenity asked seriously. 

Peter knew where the conversation would lead. He didn’t want to create unnecessary drama, not at least in that moment, so he gently loosened his hold on his daughter and said: 

“I won’t promise that I’ll do it immediately, but just let me find the right moment. The ideal time would be after your siblings are born.” 

Serenity sighed in agreement. Her father was right–her mother was pregnant, an unexpected pregnancy, and any shock could cause a catastrophic outcome. She didn’t like the idea, but for now, it was the best option. After the bables were born, she would press her father to talk to her mother, or she herself would be the one to tell her about Peter’s existence. 

After a few more minutes, they reached an agreement. Peter looked at her, kissed her forehead, and then glanced at the time–it had gotten dark. He knew it was time to take her home, she shouldn’t be out so late. He offered to drive her home, but if they wanted to keep the secret, that wasn’t possible. So, he took her back to the same café where they had met, where she had parked her car. 

The drive to the café wasn’t silent. She had many questions about his life, wanting to know everything she could about him. The girl wanted to recover thase 20 last years in just a few kilometers. He looked at her, answered some questions, and smiled. It was as if he could see the 8–year–old girl he had decided to let go of, but it was clear that the girl sitting next to him was no longer a child–she was a grown woman. 

When they finally arrived at the parking lot, Serenity’s car was gone. Instead, a familiar car was there–one that she least expected. Suddenly, an awkward moment appeared, and Serenity’s smile, which had filled Peter’s heart, disappeared. 

“My dad is here!” Serenity said with a bit of surprise. 

Peter took her hand and said, “Calm down! Let’s go. I’ll take you to his car. It’s late, and he must have been worried about you.” 

In the surprise of finding Peter, Serenity had forgotten that she always had bodyguards who kept their distance from her life but always looked out for her from afar. 

Those suited men with stem faces noticed when Serenity came out of the café, helping a man much older than her. They decided to notify her father. Marcus, upon seeing the photos, felt a chill run through him. He was in a meeting that couldn’t be postponed, so he asked them to keep watch and not intervene. He knew the man and believed Serenity was not in danger. 

Marcus was greatly surprised when the man got into his SUV and drove off like a bat out of hell. Several times, he wanted to call his daughter, unsure if leaving her with Peter had been the right decision. But he couldn’t deny his daughter the opportunity to meet the man she had always believed to be her father. 

After about a couple of hours, Marcus received another notification from the head of the bodyguards. Both of them

were sitting in a park a few minutes away. The girl was crying, and the man was hugging her. The scene broke his heart, but he understood that whatever was happening, this father and daughter needed a long conversation. 

After finishing his important meeting, Marcus grabbed his coat and immediately headed to the café where his daughter had parked her car. He knew she would return there. 

Peter and Serenity walked to the car parked outside the café She gripped his hand tighter as they approached, recalling her father’s response to Maximus and anticipating a similar situation with Peter. Surprisingly, everything unfolded quite differently. Marcus stepped out of the car, saw Peter, then looked into his daughter’s eyes and said: 

“How are you, sweetheart? Is everything okay?” 

“Yes, Dad…” Serenity said, feeling embarrassed and a little scared.
