“She just asked me to be more discreet. Please, Peter, help the with that. I know we’re just starting something, but this is my job, and I’ve worked hard to get it. I don’t want to lose it because of my colleagues‘ gossip.” 

“Celeste… I don’t want to cause you any problems. I’ll be more careful. Don’t worry about your job. I can talk to the director. Your private life shouldn’t be a subject of gossip,” Peter said, his tone calm but tinged with frustration. 

“No, Peter, I can handle this. We just need to be more careful, please.” 

“I understand… But if they bother you again, just tell me. I’m contributing a lot of money to this place, and you shouldn’t have to worry about what others say about our relationship.” 

That part Peter just mentioned was something Celeste hadn’t known. Sometimes, she forgot who she was talking to. The man was a millionaire, and making donations was no problem for him. She was just a full–time teacher who had recently landed a good job. It wasn’t that the situation was uncomfortable, but it did feel a little strange. He adapted so well to her day–to–day life without complaint 

After the break, Peter had a meeting outside of Westhaven but would come back to pick her up and take her home. He would even have to wait for her at the café for at least a couple of hours. Celeste looked around and didn’t see anyone she knew, so she walked up to Peter and kissed him on the lips. 

“I’ll see you in a few hours. I have to go back to school. I’m really looking forward to that hot bath and a good massage.” She said, winking and caressing the man’s cheek 

That gesture made Peter’s heart beat a little faster. Afterward, he paid the bill and left for his meeting. He caught a glimpse of Celeste entering the school. The meeting wasn’t far from Westhaven, but it would take at least 50 minutes by car with all the traffic. 

Celeste, meanwhile, checked her phone. The kids should already be in the theater, waiting to start rehearsals for the play. She left her bag in the teachers‘ lounge and headed straight to the theater. She just had to push through the exhaustion and sleepiness this week. Once the fall festival event was over, everything would return to normal, Besides, the payment for her paintings had already been deposited, and the amount was more than enough to finish paying off her bank debt. She could possibly even look for a place to live, at least on the outskirts of Westhaven. It wouldn’t be the same traveling 30 minutes versus two hours. 

With that in mind, Celeste entered the theater and saw the kids playing on stage. What caught her attention was the many cables and tools the set designers had left behind. She asked the children to get off the stage. They couldn’t work there; the lighting and set work hadn’t been completed by the time of their rehearsal, so it wasn’t safe to stay there. 

The director went to check on the set and found Celeste ushering the children off the stage because there were cables and uninstalled materials in the area. The director quickly stepped in to help and made sure the kids were moved to safety, as that area was a danger to them.
