Peter remained lying down, lost in his thoughts, memories and what he had to do from now on. He couldn’t get the image of Mary out of his mind–her smile, her eyes, the first time they were together. He felt a strange sensation in his hands. He had been repressing everything 

The day he went to Ethan’s school, he hadn’t expected to run Into her. When she fainted, he quickly grabbed her to prevent her from hitting the floor. As he picked her up, he didn’t say anything, but a series of voices started echoing in his mind. He had felt this before, and when he placed her on the couch, he couldn’t help but touch her belly. The baby inside her began to move, and that was the trigger. 

In the past, 20 years ago, Peter always asked Mary if the baby was moving yet. He had never experienced it before, but some people had told him it was a very special feeling. Peter was curious to see that, so every day, as the baby grew, he would ask Mary if the baby was moving yet. She didn’t know how to recognize it since it was her first child, and she didn’t know the sensation. 

Dr. Angel Romano’s assistant explained to her that when the baby began to move, she would feel bubbles. Since the baby was still premature, there was space, so that sensation would be like little bubbles. As the baby grew and there was less space, the sensation would change, and they would be able to see what Peter wanted to see. 

Peter remembered that conversation and the sparkling eyes of the woman who was once the love of his life. A tear fell from the corner of his eye, and a smile appeared on his face. His thoughts were interrupted when someone knocked on the door and asked to come in. 

“Peter, are you awake?” Theodore said cautiously. 

“Yes… come in…” Peter said as he got out of bed and wiped way his tears. 

“Peter, Dr. Wagner is here. You probably won’t remember im…” Theodore said as he opened the door to let him

“Mr. Palmer, it’s so good to see you again! You’re Valentia’s miracle!” Dr. Wagner said enthusiastically. 

The tall, blond, blue–eyed man was considered an expert in neurology, but Peter’s case was one that, without naming the patient, he took great pride in. He had taken the case when all the other doctors had looked at the patient and declared him dead from a traumatic brain injury. 

For Dr. Wagner, Peter became his personal challenge: reconstructing a skull and brain as damaged as his. It was a major challenge that taught him many things. The only thing he regretted was that the patient hadn’t been able to recover his memories. That was the only thing he had failed at. He had estimated a maximum of five years, but those memories had been lost for 20 long years. 

“Dr. Wagner, do you think I need to be hospitalized?” 

“Mr. Palmer, I will do a routine check–up. I need to check your reflexes, and yes, if necessary, we will do some tests like a neuropsychological evaluation, an MRI, an EEG a CT scan, and others. We’ll also need to consider laboratory tests and psychiatric monitoring.” 

“Mr. Palmer, you must understand that it has been 20 years and it is important to evaluate your emotional and mental state: A lot has changed, and you will need to adapt to both your present and your past.” 

“I know you must feel confused and disoriented right now, and I believe you may be facing a shock because your memories must be coming back all at once. No one prepares us for that. I also know you must feel joy and anxiety at the same time. Your life was interrupted all of a sudden, but you’re a strong man, and you’ll get through this
