Chapter 0544
“Fine. I’ll message you this evening.
“Good.”
As she walked away, Peter felt a sharp pain in his chest. The Celeste he knew–the cheerful, loving woman who always seemed to glow–was gone. In her place was someone colder, someone distant. Peter was facing the full consequences of his decisions, and it hurt more than he’d expected. He regretted everything. But back then, he hadn’t thought things through, and Celeste had been nothing more than an innocent victim of his poor choices.
Peter sat in his car for a while, lost in thought, reflecting on the mess he’d created. His mistakes had entangled not just him but the entire Palmer family.

“This will be your home, Celeste… Do you like it?” Peter asked, his voice filled with anticipation.
“Peter, this isn’t a house–it’s a castle!” Celeste replied, wide–eyed as she took in the grand structure before her. “Let me show you around. I’ve had some ramps installed for the wheelchair, but they’re not everywhere yet. For now, I’ll take you to see the main areas. Not everything is set up, but we have the essentials ready.”
Seated in her wheelchair, Celeste let Peter guide her through the parts of the castle that were accessible. As they moved, her gaze landed on a few familiar paintings.
“Wait… Were you the anonymous buyer who took most of my paintings?” she asked, her tone playful but surprised.
“Actually, that was Theodore! By the time I wanted to buy them, someone had already snapped them up. When I checked my credit card statement, I discovered his little escapade.”
Celeste smiled, a bit flustered. “Well, I have to admit–Theodore has impeccable taste. Oh, wait, are you cold?”
“No, why?”
“I just wondered. There’s a place I want to show you, and I think you’ll like it.“”
“Oh really?”
“Yes. Come on!”
Peter patiently pushed the wheelchair toward the backyard. When they reached the garden, he paused to turn on the lights. The space lit up, revealing a vast, meticulously maintained garden filled with plants of all kinds. A gazebo stood elegantly in the center, surrounded by flourishing rose bushes. The sight was enchanting, the kind of scene Celeste thought only existed in romantic movies. She couldn’t believe this was her reality. This must be a dream, she thought. Any moment now, I’ll wake up in my apartment or back in the hospital.
“What do you think?” Peter asked, his gaze fixed on her.
He crouched down to her level, gently caressing her cheek and looking deeply into her eyes. Her cheeks flushed instinctively, giving her an endearing look that Peter couldn’t resist. Leaning in, he stole a kiss.
“Hey,” Peter said with a soft laugh, “you must be tired from sitting for so long. Let me take you to the bedroom.”
When they reached the bedroom, Celeste took in the space with quiet amazement. The room was impeccably arranged but understated–clearly designed for a gentleman. Black marble floors reflected the dim lighting, and dark gray curtains stretched from the ceiling to the floor. At the center stood a massive bed draped in a sleek black comforter with subtle gold accents. The entire aesthetic was masculine yet elegant.
Chapter 0544
“Here, let me carry you. I’ll help you lie down for a bit. What do you think? Are you hungry? I could make something quick, or we could order in.”
“I’m fine! We could just have a sandwich…”
“Are you sure? I could cook you some pasta or something else, whatever you’re craving.”
“Peter, I’m okay. You must be tired too. Maybe I’ll just have cereal with milk, something simple. Or we could share a coffee and some buttered bread.”
“Are you absolutely sure that’s all you want?”
