Chapter 0579
At the hospital, Frank Sr. looked up and was met with the face of his estranged son.
“My dear son! How many years have passed for us to meet again?” Frank Sr. exclaimed, tears streaming down his face, his voice trembling with emotion.
“Frank? Frank, is it really you? Oh God! God is merciful! My son has saved me!” he cried out, overwhelmed.
But Frank Jr.’s cold voice cut through the emotional reunion like a knife.
“Father… not even God is going to save you. I didn’t want to save you–I only did because, for now, it benefits me to take care of you,” he said, his tone devoid of warmth.
“What are you talking about? Haven’t I suffered enough with Marcus?” Frank Sr. asked, confusion mixing with
fear.
“You brought all of this upon yourself. Have you forgotten that you murdered Marcus’s entire family?” Frank Jr. replied sternly.
“So now you’re his avenger, is that it?” Frank Sr. sneered, showing no remorse.
“See what I mean?” Frank Jr. said, placing a hand on his father’s head. “From now on, I decide if you live or die. You need to understand that you’re not alive today because of Marcus. That man left you for dead. You’re alive because you serve a purpose–for me. You’ll continue to be useful to me in the future, so don’t think you’re here for nothing.”
“Since when did you grow a pair?” Frank Sr. asked, laughing with derision.
“I’ve always had them, Father,” Frank Jr. replied with unsettling calm. “The difference is, I think things through. I don’t make rash, impulsive decisions like you did in your youth.”
“Hah, so now you think you’re tougher than me? You little idiot!” Frank Sr. spat, his voice icy.
“Father, do you not see the situation you’re in? If I wanted, could grab a pillow right now and smother you to death. No one–no one–would miss you. As far as the world is concerned, you’re already dead. Marcus made sure of that. I only found you because of a slip–up on his part. For now, I’m offering you a roof, food, and minimal care. But that tongue of yours is starting to annoy me. Maybe 1 should cut it out,” Frank Jr. said, gripping his father’s shoulder tightly.
The threat sent a chill down Frank Sr.’s spine. He had thought he was dealing with his quiet, unassuming son. But the man standing before him now was a different person entirely–one whose limits he couldn’t predict. In his current weakened state, Frank Sr. realized he was completely at his son’s mercy. For once, he decided to remain
silent.
Moments later, a nurse entered with water and medication Frank Sr. drank it reluctantly, his eyelids growing heavy almost immediately. It dawned on him too late–none of his usual medications caused this reaction.
