Chapter 0650
As Marcus grappled with his arrest, Valerie unraveled the painful truth, and Maximus fought to navigate the chaos around him, a new layer of tension unfolded. John and Ethan, two young boys, were the last children waiting to be picked up from school. After a long wait, an armored vehicle finally arrived to collect John. However, Ethan, feeling uneasy about being left behind, insisted on joining them.
The man picking up John, wary of attracting attention, allowed Ethan to tag along with the intent to abandon him later. True to their plan, once they were away from the school, the boys were sedated. Ethan awoke alone in a park, while John was on his way to Leonardo’s mansion, where Serenity and Maurice were already being held.
When Ethan woke up in the park, his small frame shook with fear. Surrounded by mothers watching over their children, he approached one and asked to call his grandfather, Peter. His tearful voice broke as he explained that he didn’t know where he was.
Peter, alarmed and confused, tried to calm the boy as he quickly left his mansion. Something was clearly wrong with the plan. He asked the mother to stay with Ethan until someone came to pick him up and obtained her location before hanging up. Peter immediately called Theodore.
“Theodore! Where the hell are you? Why didn’t you pick up Ethan? The boy’s in a park and doesn’t know how he got there!” Peter’s voice was sharp, tinged with panic.
“Peter, I was with Matthew. Your plan has taken longer than expected, but I swear I’m on my way. The plan was for me to pick him up at school–I don’t understand how he ended up in a park.”
“This is very strange, Theodore. I need you to get to this address immediately!”
“It’s close to where I am. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
$724
Theodore sped to the park, finding a middle–aged woman sitting on a bench with Ethan beside her. She looked uneasy, holding a baby in her arms as Ethan recounted his ordeal. He explained that he had been in a car with his best friend John when he suddenly fell asleep and woke up in the park alone.
Theodore listened carefully, his gut churning with dread. Thanking the woman for her kindness, he handed her a generous gratuity before taking Ethan by the hand and ushering him to the car.
Once inside, he immediately called Peter.
“Peter, I have Ethan. He’s fallen asleep again, but I’m taking him to a doctor. Something’s wrong.
“What the hell do you mean?”
“The woman said Ethan told her he was in a car with John, and suddenly, he was unconscious and woke up in the park. I have a bad feeling about this, Peter. Should I call the Palmer mansion and check on John?”
“Yes! Keep me updated. I’m heading to Valentia now.”
“Fine. I really hope you know what you’re doing. Maximus is on his way home, and Matthew barely survived his ordeal. If they had arrived a few minutes later, he would have been dead.”
“Theodore, I need to go–Maximus is trying to call me. It seems the plan has already started to unravel.”
“Keep me informed, Peter. Let me know what the doctor says about Ethan.”
“I will.
Chapter 0650
As soon as Peter hung up with Theodore, Maximus’s insistent call came through.
“Damn it, Peter! Leonardo has kidnapped my children! He has Serenity and Maurice! Tell me this is part of your damn plan!”
Peter felt a chill run down his spine. He had never considered the possibility that Leonardo would target the children. He’d assumed all his father cared about were the company shares.
“What the hell did you just say?”
“What you heard, Peter! Leonardo has my Serenity and Maurice! Tell me this is part of your plan!”
“No! You know I would never involve children in this…”
“Damn you, Peter! Leonardo has my family! He’s left me with nothing, and now I don’t know what to do, where to go, or how to get my children back!”
“Calm down, Maximus! I’ll send my men to find Serenity and Maurice immediately. Leonardo wouldn’t dare harm his own grandchildren…”
